Job Summary: Ensure compliance, maintenance, and continual improvement to the ISO14001 Environmental Management System, Occupational Health & Safety Management System and applicable legal requirements. Provide support to Human Resources Manager with health and safety requirements.
Major Accountabilities:
- Assists Human Resources Manager with planning, directing and administering environmental, health and safety programs;
- Provides coaching and training to maintain compliance with regulatory agencies OSHA, TOSHA and EPA;
- Administers Workers' Compensation program;
- Serves as ISO14001 site representative and champion of safety teams;
- Assists in identification, analysis, control and elimination of occupational hazards;
- Creates and maintains a proactive safety culture through the establishment of safe work practices and employee engagement;
- Conducts accident and incident investigations;
- Develops and provides regular safety training, safety information and open communication concerning environmental, health and safety issues.
- Maintains OSHA Logs, safety training records and documentation regarding safety and environmental audits and inspections
- Authority to shut down production due to safety issues
Qualification:
- Bachelor's Degree Preferred; High School diploma with experience considered.
- Minimum of three years of safety experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge of OSHA and TOSHA General Industry Standards;
- Ability to maintain confidentiality;
- Computer and spreadsheet proficiency;
- Good communicator ability to listen to others and clearly present information and requests;
- Service Oriented anticipates and works to meet the needs of internal and external customers;
- Thorough does not assume that things are being done correctly and completely, takes steps to ensure correctness and completeness;
- Relationship builder recognizes the importance of positive relationships between and within departments and will continually and intentionally work to develop and sustain positive relationships.
- Knowledge of IATF 16949; Knowledge of ISO 14001: 2015
- Knowledge of any applicable customer specific requirements
- Bilingual English Spanish would be an asset.
