JOB OVERVIEW
MartinFed seeking a highly experienced Systems Engineer, Subject Matter Expert (SME), to support the design, implementation, administration, and sustainment of enterprise IT infrastructure in a secure federal environment. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience with Microsoft Windows Server environments, virtualization technologies, network infrastructure, cybersecurity compliance frameworks, and systems accreditation activities. This individual will serve as a technical leader responsible for the architecture, integration, operation, and security of complex client/server and network environments.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Design, develop, implement, and maintain enterprise server, storage, virtualization, and network infrastructure solutions.
- Supervise, coordinate, and perform additions, modifications, and upgrades to network hardware, operating systems, server environments, and attached devices.
- Provide day-to-day operational support for network and server infrastructure, including performance monitoring, capacity planning, troubleshooting, and problem resolution.
- Diagnose and resolve complex hardware, software, networking, and communications issues across enterprise environments.
- Conduct physical and logical troubleshooting of network systems, including communications protocols, hardware devices, and measurement tools.
- Plan, review, test, and implement new network infrastructure components and operating systems supporting voice and data communications.
- Perform systems management, integration, and lifecycle support activities.
- Design, deploy, evaluate, certify, patch, and maintain storage, backup, virtualization, and server technologies.
- Ensure systems remain compliant with organizational security requirements and approved patch management processes.
- Support system certification, accreditation, authorization, and continuous monitoring activities.
- Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), technical documentation, and Quick Reference Guides.
- Evaluate, document, and manage implementation of NIST 800-53 security controls.
- Support Risk Management Framework (RMF) activities and security compliance efforts in accordance with NIST guidance and FISMA requirements.
- Provide technical consultation, mentoring, training, and guidance to government personnel and IT staff.
- Advise leadership on technology investments, infrastructure modernization, system architecture, and future-state capabilities.
- Develop enterprise strategies for client/server infrastructure, data storage, processing, and application hosting environments.
- Evaluate emerging technologies and provide recommendations regarding feasibility, interoperability, and implementation.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's Degree (B.S. or B.A.) in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of ten (10) years of experience designing, implementing, and supporting enterprise IT infrastructure environments.
- Extensive experience administering Microsoft Windows Server environments and Active Directory.
- Strong understanding of NIST 800-series publications, Risk Management Framework (RMF), and Federal Information Security Modernization Act (FISMA) requirements.
- Experience supporting system accreditation, authorization, and continuous monitoring activities.
- Knowledge of TCP/IP networking, network protocols, and enterprise infrastructure technologies.
- Experience with virtualization technologies and enterprise systems integration.
- Ability to develop technical documentation, implementation plans, and operational procedures.
- Excellent troubleshooting, analytical, and communication skills.
- Required certification- one or more of the following: (Microsoft Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate, VMware Certified Professional - Data Center Virtualization (VCP-DCV), Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP), Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- VMware vSphere 7 administration and engineering experience.
- Cisco networking infrastructure experience.
- Experience with Dell server platforms and SAN storage solutions.
- Familiarity with system accreditation and authorization processes, including FBI Authority to Operate (ATO) requirements.
- Experience evaluating, documenting, and managing NIST 800-53 control implementations.
- Experience utilizing Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) tools such as RiskVision, Xacta, and JCAM.
- Experience supporting secure federal, law enforcement, or intelligence community environments.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS
- Working on a computer for long periods of time.
- May involve long period of sitting at a desk.
- The work environment is fast-paced and sometimes involves extreme deadline pressures.
