Senior Tax Accountant - Seasonal (Full-Time / Part-Time)

Position Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Senior Tax Accountant to join our team. This role is responsible for preparing and reviewing complex tax returns, providing tax planning strategies, ensuring compliance with federal and state tax regulations, and mentoring junior staff. The Senior Tax Accountant will work closely with clients to build strong relationships and deliver exceptional service. The ideal candidate will have at least five (5) tax seasons of paid tax preparation experience and advanced tax training and education. No book of business required. This is a largely seasonal position with work primarily expected to occur from January through April each year. Full-time preferred, but part-time arrangements may be available. Opportunity for work during the off-season may be available.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and review federal, state, and local tax returns for individuals, partnerships, corporations, and trusts.
- Conduct in person and virtual tax interviews with clients.
- Conduct technical tax research and stay current on changes in tax law.
- Provide proactive tax planning strategies to optimize client outcomes.
- Review and respond to notices from tax authorities and advise and assist clients in resolving tax-related issues.
- Collaborate with wealth management and financial planning teams to ensure integrated advice.
- Train, mentor, and review work of junior staff.
- Build strong client relationships through clear communication and excellent service.
- Assist with process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy in the tax department.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
- 4-7 years of progressive experience in public accounting or a corporate tax department.
- Experience preparing 1040, 1120, 1120S, 1065, 1041 and 990 returns required.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field required. Master's in Taxation a plus.
- CPA or Enrolled Agent certification strongly preferred.
- Proficiency with commercial tax preparation software.
- Strong knowledge of federal and state tax law, with ability to research and resolve complex issues.
- Have an active PTIN or be eligible for a PTIN.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, time-management and client-service skills.
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong understanding of and adherence to confidentiality requirements.
- Excellent communication skills, both spoken and in writing.
- Background check required.
