Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Purchaser to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in the fabrication process by insuring the smooth flow of material. This position requires strong analytical skills, a deep understanding of fabrication processes, and the ability to effectively communicate with various material suppliers. The Purchaser will work closely with the suppliers and estimators to ensure that all aspects of the project are accounted for in the procurement process.
Duties
- Procure materials and consumables for fabrication projects.
- Analyze blueprints and other documentation to prepare purchase orders.
- Collaborate with shop management teams to develop budgets and inventories.
- Utilize STRUMIS software for creating and managing purchase orders
- Build and maintain relationships with suppliers to negotiate pricing and terms.
- Monitor costs throughout the project lifecycle to ensure adherence to budgetary constraints.
Skills
- Strong knowledge of fabrication principles and practices.
- Proficiency in procurement techniques related to fabrication projects.
- Experience using STRUMIS or similar estimating software is preferred.
- Excellent negotiation skills to secure favorable terms with suppliers.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail.
- Strong analytical skills for cost control and budget management.
- Effective communication skills for collaboration with team members and suppliers.
