Martin/Martin is seeking a mid-level Civil Investigative Engineer to join our rapidly growing Investigative Engineering Group in our Denver, Colorado office. Our team specializes in developing and managing engineering services for the renovation, restoration, retrofit, and repair of existing site elements, including grading, drainage, pavement systems, subsurface utilities, and roadways. We support a broad range of civil projects, including condition assessments, non-destructive testing, and expert witness services.


This role combines in-office design work with on-site evaluations. Candidates should bring strong knowledge of civil site standards, applicable codes, and construction practices, along with the ability to draw informed conclusions from field investigations. Core responsibilities include mentoring staff, meeting with clients, preparing technical reports, and producing engineering deliverables aligned with project needs.


A typical week may involve developing repair drawings, coordinating with project teams, performing engineering analyses, conducting site evaluations, managing construction administration activities, and participating in industry events. Throughout the project lifecycle, you will collaborate closely with property owners, municipalities, architects, and contractors, building strong professional relationships and contributing to successful project outcomes.

The Team 


Our Civil Engineering teams focus on site and infrastructure design, including leading projects such as the 16th Street Mall redesign in Denver. 

Requirements


Required

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering from an ABET accredited curriculum 
  • Registered Professional Engineer (PE)
  • Completed 4 years progressive engineering experience
  • Must be eligible to work for any employer in the United States, without the need for visa sponsorship now or in the future.
  • Ability to work in the Denver area. Relocation reimbursement may be provided, depending on the role and job function.
  • Exhibits effective communication and technical skills

Desired

  • Experience or interest in forensic engineering and/or expert witness support
  • Experience with evaluation, rehabilitation, or repair of existing site infrastructure, including grading, drainage systems, pavements, subsurface utilities, and/or roadways 
  • Familiarity with field investigation techniques, including site reconnaissance, documentation, and coordination of non-destructive testing (e.g., CCTV, GPR, infiltration testing, etc.) 
  • Working knowledge of local and regional civil design standards and criteria (e.g., City and County of Denver, Colorado Department of Transportation, and similar AHJs) 
  • Experience preparing technical reports, exhibits, and repair/rehabilitation drawings for existing site conditions 
  • Exposure to construction administration services, including responding to RFIs, reviewing submittals, and observing construction for conformance with design intent 
  • Ability to evaluate existing conditions, identify probable causes of distress or failure, and develop practical, cost-effective repair recommendations 
  • Proficiency with civil engineering design and documentation tools (e.g., Autodesk Civil 3D, Bluebeam, Microsoft Office Suite) 
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines across concurrent projects 
  • Interest in developing client relationships and participating in business development efforts over time 

Working Conditions, Skills, & Abilities


This position is primarily technical in nature and requires working inside and outside the office to complete a wide range of activities. The following abilities are required: 

  • Move inside or outside the office and on non-ADA accessible construction sites
  • Remain stationary for long periods of time
  • Repetitive movement on tasks such as using a keyboard or mouse
  • Carry, ascend, and descend a ladder
  • Identify color
  • Read, communicate, and document in English
  • Determine and exchange accurate information
  • Occasionally move or hold equipment weighing up to 50 pounds
  • Positions self in atypical environments and small, confined spaces

Compensation


The wage range for this role considers the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs.

  • Base Salary: For individuals hired in Colorado, a reasonable estimate of the current range for this role is $90,000 - $103,000 annually. This is a salaried position with accrued time eligibility. (Accrued time allows additional compensation or time-off to be earned for any eligible hours worked exceeding 40 hours per week). 
  • Base Salary Review: This role is eligible to participate in Martin/Martin’s annual base salary increase review process.
  • Annual Bonus: This role is eligible to participate in a discretionary annual bonus program.

Base salary review and increases, in addition to annual bonuses, are dependent on various factors, including a hired individual’s job-level and annual company performance.
