What are the responsibilities and job description for the Utility Person position at Martin Marietta Materials?
Description
- Performs preventative and routine maintenance on mobile equipment, conveyor belts and other unload equipment including splicing, replacing idlers, pulleys, drive belts, bearings, cleaning, and lubrication. This also includes cutting and welding under the guidance of the plant manager or other designated personnel
- Performs daily pre/post-shift inspections on equipment and maintains maintenance log
- Uses a hand shovel and operates a skid steer and other tools to clean around plant equipment and to maintain roadways and parking areas
- Operates a water truck to limit airborne dust
- Participates in plant operations
- Maintains good housekeeping in areas of responsibility and safe traffic flow throughout the site
- Operates plant-specific mobile equipment such as skid steer in a safe manner as needed
- Aides in the training of co-workers as needed
- Maintain strong communications with all other plant employees to ensure efficient and safe workflow.
- Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor
- High School Diploma, GED or equivalent experience to perform the responsibilities associated with this position
- 1-2 years prior experience in the aggregate industry preferred; experience in aggregate plant operation and maintenance a plus
