Job Summary

We are seeking a passionate and dynamic Elementary Art Teacher to inspire creativity and artistic expression among young learners. In this role, you will develop engaging art curricula that foster students' artistic skills, cultural awareness, and confidence. You will create a vibrant classroom environment that encourages exploration, experimentation, and appreciation of diverse art forms. This paid position offers the opportunity to shape students’ understanding of visual arts while supporting their overall developmental growth.

Essential Responsibilities & Duties

An Elementary School Teacher is responsible for creating and delivering engaging and high-quality, grade-level, standards-aligned educational lessons to students. This role involves fostering a positive and inclusive classroom environment, implementing the school's curriculum, and assessing student progress regularly. The Teacher works collaboratively with families, colleagues, and administrators to support each student's academic, social, and emotional development.

The scope of the responsibilities includes the following:

Instructional Planning and Delivery:

  • Develop and implement lesson plans that align with the school’s curriculum, MA State Frameworks, and Common Core State Standards
  • Use a variety of teaching strategies and instructional materials to meet the diverse needs of students
  • Implement SEI strategies with students
  • Provide students with opportunities to participate in experiential learning and reflect on their learning experience regularly
  • Foster an inclusive classroom environment that encourages active learning and participation

Classroom Management:

  • Establish and maintain a positive classroom environment conducive to learning
  • Implement effective classroom management strategies to promote respect, safety, belonging, and discipline
  • Address behavioral issues promptly and in accordance with school policies and our student accountability

Assessment and Evaluation:

  • Assess student progress regularly using formal and informal methods (i.e., daily exit tickets, quizzes, mid- and/or end-of-unit assessments, interim assessments)
  • Provide timely and constructive feedback to students and families
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student performance and progress (documented in gradebook)
  • Promote students to own their learning and set personal goals

Student Support:

  • Identify and support students with special needs or learning difficulties
  • Collaborate with special education staff, counselors, and other professionals to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs)
  • Provide additional assistance and resources to students as needed

Family Engagement:

  • Communicate regularly with parents and guardians about student progress, achievements, and concerns
  • Conduct parent-teacher conferences to discuss student development and address any issues in partnership
  • Encourage and facilitate parental involvement in the classroom and school activities

Professional Collaboration and Development:

  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to plan and coordinate instructional activities
  • Participate in professional development opportunities and training sessions
  • Stay current with best practices and developments in elementary education

School and Community Involvement:

  • Participate in school events, committees, and extracurricular activities
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of school policies and programs
  • Foster positive relationships with students, parents, colleagues, and the broader school community

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree (Master’s degree preferred)
  • State certification or licensure to teach in the relevant grade levels
  • Previous teaching experience, preferably in an elementary school setting
  • Strong understanding of child development and elementary education principles
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse students and families
  • Frequently check email and respond to inquiries as needed within 48 hours
  • Read the Weekly Memo in advance of the start of the school week
  • Uphold our school’s values, school-wide key systems, and student accountability systems for academics and character
  • Consistently meet our school expectations for professionalism and fulfill required responsibilities in a timely and professional manner

Pay: $50,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
