Position Title: Head Boys Volleyball Coach

Job Classification: Seasonal Employee

Reports to: Athletic Director

Summary:

The head coach is responsible for the entire high school programming his/her sport. Martin Luther High School is a 9 – 12th grade school system with approximately 675 students and growing. Martin Luther is a faith community in the Lutheran Church, Missouri Synod whose mission is sharing Jesus, shaping lives, and developing leaders. We ensure exceptional experiences in four pillars of focus: Spiritual Growth, Academics, Athletics, and the Arts. Our core values are Biblical Truth, Relationships, Communication, Growth, and Love. Philosophy:

Martin Luther High School is seeking a Head Boys Volleyball Coach for the 2026 Fall season. This program will be entering its third year of existence at our school, and it is part of the Woodland Conference. The Head Volleyball Coach should ascribe to the Core Values of not only Martin Luther High School, but also WeTeachTruth Lutheran Education. He/She should recognize that employees of ML should use our Core Values of Biblical Truth, Relationship Building, Communication, Growth, and Love as a center of their focus. There should be a belief in our Mission; Share Jesus, Shape Lives, Develop Leaders, and that mission supports our Brand, We Teach Truth.

Qualifications:

• Has the ability to organize and supervise a total sports program.
• Valid Wisconsin teacher certification preferred or ability to be NFHS or ASEP certified.
• Have knowledge of and background in the sport of Volleyball (prior head coaching experience at the high school varsity level, club coaching experience and college level playing experience is preferred).
• Continue to examine new theories and procedures pertinent to the field.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• CPR/First Aid certified.
• Ability to act as a role model and ambassador for the athletic program and the school while holding up our core values within the boys volleyball program.
• Must be loyal to the total athletic and educational program of Martin Luther High School.

Job Responsibilities:

• Plan and conduct daily practices for assigned team.
• Coordinate and direct ALL LEVELS of the program by conducting coaches’ meetings and parent meetings, developing team rules, assisting other coaches in the development of practices, and maintaining strong communication at each level.
• Maintain accurate statistics for wins/losses and athlete statistics/performances. (All-Conference, team records, etc.)
• Follow rules and regulations set forth in the Coaches Handbook.
• Develop team rules, rosters, and practice calendars.
• Develop strategies and make recommendations to enhance the future of the program.
• Hire and evaluate assistant coaches.
• Keep accurate inventory of equipment, uniforms, etc.
• Work with the Director of Athletics on developing an appropriate annual budget.
• Assist in scheduling program transportation requests, etc.
