The VDC Manager owns the BIM Execution Plan (BIMx), leads multi‑trade coordination, manages VDC staff, and acts as the primary liaison between project teams, trade partners, design teams, and field leadership. This role bridges high‑level strategy and day‑to‑day execution, ensuring VDC deliverables create measurable value in the field and throughout the lifecycle of the project.

Key Responsibilities

Project Leadership & Coordination

  • Lead VDC implementation on assigned projects from preconstruction through turnover.
  • Develop, manage, and enforce the project-specific BIM Execution Plan (BIMx).
  • Facilitate and lead multi‑trade BIM coordination and clash resolution meetings.
  • Oversee clash detection workflows, issue tracking, and resolution prioritization.
  • Drive constructability reviews, focusing on risk mitigation before work reaches the field.
  • Coordinate closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, and trade partners to align digital planning with field execution.

Team Management & Mentorship

  • Manage and mentor VDC Engineers and Coordinators, supporting professional growth and skill development.
  • Review and QA/QC models, outputs, and deliverables produced by the VDC team.

  • Support onboarding and training of new VDC staff in company standards and workflows.

Construction Planning & Field Integration

  • Support construction sequencing, site logistics, and phasing using 3D/4D models.
  • Ensure modeling outputs are practical, field‑ready, and aligned with superintendent needs.
  • Collaborate with Field Solutions Engineers and layout teams on model‑based layout and field deployment.
  • Validate model accuracy against real‑world conditions and evolving site constraints.

Standards, Processes & Technology

  • Enforce MHC BIM standards, templates, and best practices across projects.
  • Contribute to the refinement of company‑wide VDC standards and workflows.
  • Evaluate VDC tools and processes for efficiency and scalability in collaboration with leadership.
  • Ensure consistent data quality, version control, and model governance.

Communication & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Serve as the primary VDC point of contact for project teams and external partners.
  • Translate complex model data into clear visuals, narratives, and recommendations for non‑technical stakeholders.
  • Support pursuits, client meetings, and executive presentations with VDC visuals and insights when required.
  • Foster trusted relationships with trade partners, designers, and internal teams.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field or equivalent professional experience.
  • 7 years of experience in construction technology, BIM/VDC, or related project delivery roles.
  • Proven experience leading BIM coordination on large commercial construction projects.
