MEPF Project Engineer

Job Description

The MEPF Project Engineer plays a key support role in the successful planning and execution of Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, and Fire Protection scopes on assigned projects. This position is designed to develop technical knowledge and field coordination skills specific to building systems while providing essential support to the MEPF Project Manager, field supervisors, design teams, and trade partners. The MEPF PE helps maintain project momentum by assisting in document control, submittals, coordination efforts, and schedule tracking related to MEPF scopes.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Assist the MEPF Project Manager and field supervisory staff in coordinating and managing MEPF trades to keep the project on schedule and within budget.
• Develop working knowledge of contract documents, MEPF scopes of work, and shop drawings to support field coordination and design compliance.
• Track and update MEPF-related logs in Procore (e.g., submittals, RFIs, shop drawings, and equipment deliveries).
• Lead the review and processing of MEPF submittals, including ensuring timely responses and distribution to relevant parties.
• Track material and equipment deliveries / long lead items to be in alignment with schedule. Perform weekly updates to procurement log.
• Monitor and help coordinate field inspections, commissioning activities, and testing & balancing for MEPF systems.
• Assist with the identification and resolution of conflicts between MEPF systems and architectural/structural elements using coordination drawings and clash detection tools.
• Participate in MEPF preconstruction meetings, design review sessions, and subcontractor coordination calls.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of MEPF documentation, including permits, inspection reports, meeting minutes, and manufacturer data.
• Assist in the close-out process for MEPF systems, including compiling O&M manuals, warranties, and as-built documentation.
• Support the project team with quality control, compliance tracking, and field coordination for MEPF scopes.
• Participate in MEPF BIM coordination meetings, track conflicts log, and follow through resolving all conflicts.

Qualifications

• Working knowledge in Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, or Fire Protection systems preferred.
• Experience with or willingness to learn Procore, Timberline, Microsoft Excel/Word, and P6 or other scheduling software.
• Strong experience with Revit, Navisworks, Bluebeam is preferred.
• Eagerness to learn MHC processes and collaborate as an integral part of the project team.
• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and an ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills, especially in coordinating across design, field, and trade teams.
• Ability to visit job sites as needed to support field coordination, typically weekly or as project demands require.
