What are the responsibilities and job description for the General Laborer - Dickinson position at Martin Construction Inc.?
Summary of Position:
Perform tasks involving physical labor with heavy construction projects or shop duties. May operate a variety of hand and power tools. May clean and prepare sites, dig trenches, and remove waste materials. May assist operators.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Perform a variety of tasks involving strenuous manual labor in heavy/highway construction projects and/or oilfield projects.
- Perform manual work in preparing surfaces, ditches, culverts or other areas.
- Shovel dirt within construction area as defined by grade fill specifications given by foreman/operator.
- Maintain a clean job site; pick up all tools and equipment and secure job site each day in order to eliminate potential hazards.
- Load and unload material manually, haul and hoist materials (pipe, box culverts, supplies).
- Shop maintenance or flagging duties when needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
Skills & Abilities and Physical Demands Required:
- Basic knowledge of proper use of equipment, materials and supplies used in construction work.
- Ability to work independently and complete daily activities according to work schedule.
- Ability to lift heavy objects, walk and stand for long periods of time and perform strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions.
- Ability to use equipment and tools properly and safely.
- Can follow and transmit written and oral instructions.
- Responsible to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency.
