Job Overview
Martial Posture and After School Philly is seeking a dependable, energetic, and positive counselor to join our after-school team. Our program provides school pickup, homework support, snacks, supervised recreation, and enrichment activities such as martial arts, tricking, parkour, dance, music, and creative arts.
Previous experience working with children is encouraged but not required. We are primarily looking for someone with a great attitude who is willing to learn, accept feedback, adapt, and grow within the position.
Expected Responsibilities
- Supervise children and help maintain a safe, organized, and positive environment.
- Assist with school pickup and safely escort students to the program.
- Support children during snacks, homework time, transitions, and recreational activities.
- Participate in games, physical activities, and enrichment programming.
- Help instructors manage groups and keep students engaged.
- Build positive relationships with children, families, instructors, and other staff members.
- Respond calmly and appropriately to behavioral challenges.
- Assist with daily setup, cleanup, attendance, and organization.
- Follow all program safety procedures, policies, and staff expectations.
- Communicate concerns, incidents, and important information to program leadership.

Minimum Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Available Monday through Friday from 1:45 p.m. to 6:15 p.m.
- Able to reliably commute to Center City Philadelphia.
- Willing and able to obtain all required Pennsylvania child-care clearances and background checks.
- Able to stand, walk, supervise groups, and participate in an active youth program.
- Dependable, punctual, and committed to maintaining a safe environment.
Experience in education, child development, recreation, coaching, counseling, martial arts, dance, sports, or youth programming is helpful but not required. Training and support will be provided to the right candidate.
Pay: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour
