We are a small medical office that serves year-round island and seasonal residents and welcomes vacationing visitors who require medical attention. Our office in Vineyard Haven provides primary care and offers another option to avoid hospital emergency room visits when care is needed for sudden illnesses or other common medical problems.
Ideally we are looking for someone who lives on island year-round.

Role Overview
We are seeking a professional and compassionate individual as a Medical Receptionist & Clerical Assistant. In this dual-capacity role, you will be the face of our practice, making patients feel welcome and safe. You will handle frontline patient coordination while providing essential clerical and administrative backup to ensure our medical practice runs efficiently. This role is ideal for someone looking to grow in Healthcare Administration.
Primary (Reception & Patient Services)
- Patient Intake: Greet patients, collect demographic information, and verify insurance eligibility.
- Scheduling: Manage appointment calendar and coordinate patient visits.
- Financials: Collect copays and outstanding patient balances at the time of service.
- Communication: Handle high-volume phone calls, document/relay patient messages.
- Patient Records: Scan/upload documents and manage e-faxes.
Secondary (Clerical & Operational Support)
- Office Maintenance: Perform general clerical duties including copying/faxing/scanning.
- Mail & Logistics: Open, sort, and distribute incoming mail and packages appropriately.
- Filing & Data: Maintain paper and electronic filing systems; assist with forms and data entry.
- Director Support: Provide administrative assistance to Clinical Operations Director.
Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma or GED.
- Experience: Previous experience in a medical office or clerical setting is preferred.
- Technical Proficiency:
o Strong digital literacy; proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel).
o Experience with or ability to quickly learn medical billing and scheduling software.
- Character Traits:

Compensation & Benefits
- Position Type: Full-Time
- Pay Range: $22.00 – $25.00 per hour (based on experience).
