Position Summary
The Weekend Nurse Supervisor directs and oversees all clinical operations during weekend hours. This position provides leadership to nursing staff, promotes exceptional resident care, ensures compliance with Virginia regulations and facility policies, responds to clinical concerns, and serves as the primary clinical resource during weekends.
This role requires excellent clinical judgment, strong leadership skills, and the ability to make sound decisions while maintaining a resident-centered approach to care.
Essential Responsibilities
Clinical Leadership & Resident Care
• Conduct clinical rounds at the beginning of each shift.
• Ensure care plans and restorative programs are followed.
• Monitor changes in resident condition and coordinate interventions.
• Verify incidents receive appropriate follow-up and documentation.
• Promote compassionate, resident-centered care.
Documentation & Clinical Review
• Review 24/72-hour reports in PointClickCare.
• Audit physician orders, MARs/TARs, and chart documentation.
• Complete admission chart audits.
• Monitor medication refusals, unavailable medications, hospice documentation, and assessments.
Incident Management
• Review incidents and ensure investigations, assessments, and monitoring are completed.
• Communicate significant concerns to leadership.
Quality Assurance & Compliance
• Monitor dashboards and quality indicators.
• Conduct routine audits.
• Maintain survey readiness and policy compliance.
Staff Leadership
• Supervise nursing staff.
• Coordinate staffing coverage.
• Provide coaching and real-time education.
• Assist on the floor as needed.
Resident & Family Relations
• Address resident and family concerns professionally.
• Communicate effectively with families and providers.
Dining & Daily Operations
• Oversee meal service and dietary compliance.
Admissions & Care Coordination
• Assist with admissions, discharges, and care planning.
Communication
• Maintain continuity of care through documentation and handoff reports.
• Serve as the primary clinical leader during weekend operations.
Qualifications
Required
• Current Virginia RN License
• Current CPR Certification
• Strong assessment, communication, leadership, and organizational skills
Preferred
• Nurse Supervisor or Charge Nurse experience
• Long-Term Care or Assisted Living experience
• PointClickCare experience
• Knowledge of Virginia long-term care regulations
