Martens Ace Hardware is currently seeking motivated individuals to join our retail team in both the roles of Retail Sales Associate and Cashier. Both positions play an important part in delivering excellent customer experiences and supporting smooth store operations.
1. Retail Sales Associate
Role Overview
Engage with customers on the sales floor, provide product knowledge, and help drive sales through friendly, attentive service.
Key Responsibilities
- Greet customers and assist them in finding products
- Recommend items based on customer needs and preferences
- Maintain clean, organized, and visually appealing displays
- Restock merchandise and support inventory counts
- Meet individual and team sales goals
- Collaborate with cashiers and other team members
Requirements
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 25–40 lbs
- Reliable, positive attitude and willingness to learn
- Flexible availability (evenings, weekends, holidays preferred)
- Previous retail experience a plus, but not required
2. Cashier
Role Overview
Provide fast, accurate, and friendly checkout experiences while handling transactions and maintaining the front-end area.
Key Responsibilities
- Process sales transactions using the POS system (cash, cards, and digital payments)
- Handle returns, exchanges, and price adjustments accurately
- Maintain a clean and organized checkout area
- Follow cash-handling and security procedures
- Assist with bagging and customer questions at the register
- Support loss-prevention efforts
Requirements
- Basic math skills and attention to detail
- Comfort operating a point-of-sale system (training provided)
- Friendly, professional demeanor under pressure
- Ability to stand for extended periods
- Reliable attendance and flexible scheduling
- Prior cashier or customer-service experience preferred but not mandatory
