What are the responsibilities and job description for the Surgery Center Medical Assistant or Surgical Tech position at Marten Clinic of Plastic Surgery?
The Marten Clinic of Plastic Surgery is a world renowned plastic surgery clinic specializing in cosmetic procedures of the face. We are looking for a medical assistant who is highly motivated to learn and grow professionally in an O.R. environment. This is the closing position with regularly scheduled hours Monday through Friday from approximately 10am until 6:30pm depending on the surgery schedule.
Major position objectives and responsibilities:
Disinfect and prepare exam rooms, equipment, and supplies to accommodate the needs of the patient, or the procedure.
Turnover rooms and operating room, anticipating the needs for following cases or procedures.
Set up instruments and supplies needed for procedures and maintain par levels of supplies.
Assist in the operating room during surgery including, but not limited to, circulating, using sterile technique to pass instruments or equipment, handling and operating machinery, maintaining supply counts, etc.
Responsible for the maintenance of incoming/outgoing laundry (i.e. uniforms, linens, etc.)
Operate and access patient information systems to retrieve information regarding patient care or other job-related responsibilities.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
Assist nurses with discharge of the patient.
Control the location of contaminated instruments and supplies to prevent the spread of infection.
Disinfect and clean all designated instruments by following proper protocol to safely handle biohazard/decontaminated material.
Disinfect and prepare the operating room, equipment, and supplies to accommodate the needs of the following surgery.
Operating the autoclave equipment and maintaining the sterilization of all instruments and supplies.
Ensure that sub-sterile areas are clear of all equipment at the end of a shift.
Perform essential responsibilities and duties of PM-shift with care and diligence.
Responsibilities will overlap with those of other employees and may include clinical, clerical, custodial, housekeeping, and other duties not listed in the job description.
Education requirements:
High school diploma
BLS/CPR certification
MA or Surgical Tech certification preferred
Salary:
$25-35/hour depending on experience
