Job Description
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: Bachelor's degree and a minimum of six years of experience in either Street Car, Light Rail, or Heavy Rail experience is required, including four years of which have been in a supervisory or managerial capacity. Knowledge of labor contracts required. Must have maximum knowledge of management of operational and administrative programs of considerable scope given tight deadlines, extreme pressure, and adverse conditions; creative problem-solving skills to ensure proper equipment operations, maintenance and modification; human relations and experience dealing with union representatives; are desirable, but not essential. Knowledge of MARTA Rail Operation Procedures, rolling stock equipment, work equipment, information and signal systems, emergency and safety procedures, Light Rail maintenance and service requirements. In lieu of a degree, directly related experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.
SUMMARY: Responsible for all Light Rail Operations service delivery of a safe, clean, and efficient experience. Provides leadership and direction related to Light Rail maintenance and transportation functions. Ensures regulatory compliance with Federal Transit Administration (FTA) and Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT). Establishes and implements Light Rail policies and procedures. Presents modifications and improvements to services as necessary for the benefit and strategic goal of the Authority. Oversees the operating budget for Light Rail Operations. This position has been identified as having responsibility for transit safety oversight at MARTA and is required to comply with the training requirements identified in the Authority’s Agency Safety Plan. Training requirements must be completed within 3 years of employment.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: TSI certificate in safety must be obtained within six months in position
