JOB TITLE: Medical Assistant or Licensed Practical Nurse in Iron Mountain, MI
Join Our Team! We are seeking a compassionate, organized, and patient-focused Medical Assistant (MA) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our healthcare team in a full-time capacity. This role works closely with providers and care team members to deliver high-quality patient outcomes.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) and Medical Assistant (MA/CMA) works under the direction of a General Surgeon, in a clinical office setting and is responsible for providing general surgery clinical support. In this role, you will prepare exam rooms, instruments, and supplies for patient care. Room patients, take vitals, observe and report patient's signs or symptoms and accurately collect and document health information. Prepare patients for examinations and/or procedures. Administer and perform clinical procedures within scope of practice. Communicate with patients regarding questions, concerns, and follow-up care. Educate patients and their families on treatments, procedures, and self-care instructions. Process prescriptions, test orders, referrals, and appointment scheduling. Assist the provider with explaining test results or prescriptions to ensure the information is accurate and understood by the patient. Complete clerical or insurance processes to ensure the proper prior authorization, documentation and submission of charges is completed in a timely manner.
Regular attendance is required to carry out the essential functions of the position.
WAGE/BENEFITS: $17.99 – 32.42 per hour starting pay based on experience and certification. The position offers excellent benefits! We offer paid sick leave, health insurance, vision and dental benefits after 90 days. After 180 days the position offers 2 weeks of paid vacation/personal time, 401K retirement plan with employer contribution matches of up to 4%. After 1 year of employment, vacation increases to 4 weeks! We also offer profit-sharing retirement contributions.
WORK SCHEDULE: This is a full-time position Monday through Friday, 8:00 am - 4:00 pm, 8:30 am - 4:30 pm, or as assigned. The Clinic is open 9:00 am -4:00 pm.
MINIMUM AND PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Ability to successfully pass a pre-hire drug screening and background check. The ideal candidate has strong interpersonal and communication skills, excellent attention to detail and documentation accuracy, and has a strong commitment to patient-centered care, teamwork and service excellence.
Medical Assistant, Non-Certified
- Must be a graduate of a recognized Medical Assistant program or successful completion of the following courses or recognized equivalent from an accredited institution within 12 months of hire: Medical Terminology, Anatomy and Physiology and Pharmacology.
- Two years’ experience as a Medical Assistant is required if education is not met at time of hire.
- Prior experience in a healthcare setting is preferred.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within three months of hire. Re-certification as required.
-or - Medical Assistant
- Must be a graduate of a recognized Medical Assistant program. Nationally certified or registered as a Medical Assistant (MA).
- Certification (CMA) obtained through a nationally approved certification program for medical assistant, including but not limited to: American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA), Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) through the National Healthcareer Association (NHA), Clinical Medical Assistant Certification (CMAC) through the American Medical Certification Association (AMCA), or National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA) through the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT), etc.
- Registration (RMA) obtained through the American Medical Technologists (AMT) also acceptable.
- Prior experience in a healthcare setting is preferred.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within three months of hire. Re-certification as required.
- or -LPN
- Graduate from an accredited practical nursing program as a Licensed Practical Nurse.
- Current Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license with State Nursing board. Obtains and subsequently maintains required department specific competencies and certifications.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within three months of hire. Re-certification as required.
