Security Guard - Marshall Health

This position will be a 90-day temporary assignment with no employee benefits. The schedule will be flexible and based on the security needs and operational requirements of the assigned locations.

The Security Guard will be responsible for providing a safe, secure, and orderly environment for employees, visitors, patients, customers, and property. The position will monitor assigned facilities, conduct routine patrols, observe and report suspicious or unsafe activity, and respond appropriately to security concerns.

This is an unarmed security position. Security Guards will not carry firearms, side arms, defensive weapons, or other defensive gear as part of this position.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

- Monitor entrances, exits, hallways, parking areas, and other assigned areas.
- Maintain a visible security presence throughout the facility.
- Observe individuals and activities for unusual, suspicious, or unsafe behavior.
- Respond to security concerns, disturbances, and emergencies according to established procedures.
- Report incidents, safety concerns, property damage, and unusual occurrences to the appropriate supervisor.
- Complete security logs and incident reports accurately and timely.
- Conduct routine walking or vehicle patrols as directed.
- Monitor access to restricted areas and report unauthorized access.
- Assist with crowd control and maintaining an orderly environment when necessary.
- Provide directions and general assistance to employees and visitors when appropriate.
- Contact law enforcement, emergency medical services, fire department personnel, or other emergency responders when circumstances require.
- Follow all facility security policies, procedures, and emergency protocols.
- Maintain professional and courteous conduct at all times.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Previous security, public safety, customer service, military, law enforcement, or related experience preferred but not required.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to remain calm and professional during stressful situations.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Ability to accurately document incidents and activities.
- Must successfully complete any required background screening and applicable hiring requirements.
- Must meet applicable requirements for employment as an unarmed security guard in West Virginia.

Position Requirements

The Security Guard must be able to stand and walk for extended periods, conduct routine patrols, respond promptly to alarms or emergencies, navigate stairs and other facility areas, and communicate effectively with employees, visitors, supervisors, and emergency personnel.

The employee will be expected to maintain a professional appearance and demeanor while representing the organization.
