Research Technician

POSITION SUMMARY: Performs research activities and other tasks as necessary in a laboratory environment. JOB DESCRIPTION: • Records observations and measurements and reports results.• Responsible for cleaning, disinfecting, and maintaining cleanrooms and equipment.• Assists with receipt and inspection of raw materials, and ordering and stocking of materials and equipment.• Performs research activities and other tasks as necessary in a laboratory environment.• Assist in the operation of specialized equipment, as required by the area of research.• Performs laboratory research procedures under the direction of a Principal Investigator• Must be proficient in the following laboratory techniques: Exosomes Isolation, cell culture, Tritiated compounds uptakes, RT-PCR, Western blot• Immunofluorescence, Immunohistochemistry, microscopy.• Possesses extensive familiarity with standard instrumentation utilized in a biochemistry research laboratory.• Ability to work cooperatively with a multidisciplinary research team.• Ability to perform experiments with independence, under general guidance from the PI.• Ability to take laboratory notes and assist in recordkeeping• Participates in laboratory meetings. • Good written and verbal communication skills.• Familiarity with chemical hygiene and biosafety procedures and/or willingness to accept training in such procedures.• Extensive handling of research animals (mice and rats), potentially biohazardous Substances (recombinant DNA retroviruses), potentially hazardous chemicals (organic solvents, various drugs). • Performs other duties as assigned or requested.
