The School of Music at Marshall University invites candidates to apply for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor to begin in Fall 2026. Candidates should have a documented record of professional performance experience and teaching experience at the university level. Continued scholarly/creative activity is expected.Primary responsibilities include teaching applied saxophone (classical and jazz/commercial styles) and other woodwind instruments (flute, single-reed, double-reed). In addition, the successful candidate should ideally be adept at teaching jazz and commercial content courses. Secondary areas of musical expertise are desirable, with special consideration given to candidates who can teach courses in the music history curriculum.The school also seeks candidates who will contribute to the University’s general education curriculum and its emphasis on using high-impact teaching practices, particularly those affiliated with one (or more) of the institution’s pedagogical initiatives (e.g., Community-based Learning, Critical Thinking, First Year Seminar, Writing Across Curriculum, etc.).
