Qualified Mechanical Technician - Senior

Our HVAC technicians support the health and well-being of our animals and ensure the equipment in our environments are operating at high quality standards. You will perform a wide range of tasks to support various departments and properties of the Marshall Group. Some responsibilities are, but not limited to routine repairs and maintenance of site-wide heating, ventilating, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems, water distribution, drainage systems, propane and natural gas distribution systems, pressure washer maintenance/repair, etc. 

Essential Tasks:

• Perform various HVAC system inspections and manufacturer-recommended preventive maintenance and calibrations to ensure efficient operation of equipment. 
• Diagnose malfunctions of HVAC systems and controls using test equipment to locate the cause of the breakdown and correct the problem by installing, replacing, or repairing damaged or worn equipment. 
• Insall and maintain all water supply, natural gas and propane distribution, drainage systems, etc. in buildings, above and underground. 
• Perform seasonal overhauls of systems from heating to cooling and vice versa. 
• Communicate well with their Supervisor/Manager/Co-Workers to layout jobs and efficiently use materials and resources to complete work in a timely manner and of high quality while conforming to building and safety codes. 
• Service and install existing or new pressure washer systems, as required. 
• Ensure proper care, use, and maintenance of equipment and supplies; promote continuous improvement of workplace safety, environmental practices, efficiency of systems, etc. 
• Preserve maintenance records as required by Marshall Farms or by other regulatory agencies. 
• Advise management on whether the continued operation of equipment could be hazardous. 
• Complete other duties as specified by management. 

Typical hours are Monday-Friday 7:00am-3:30pm. Emergency on-call rotation will be required.

Requirements

Education/Experience:  

• Combination of 2 years education/experience that demonstrates proficiency in principles and practices of residential/commercial HVAC maintenance and repair. 
• Requires valid NYS driver’s license. 

Competency Requirements:

• Capable of effectively, consistently and efficiently performing essential tasks daily. 
• Combine both manual/specialized skills and knowledge of various HVAC/mechanical systems to efficiently complete daily tasks.
• Ability to work with others and independently. 
• Ability to work offsite unsupervised. 
• Basic mechanical, electrical, and general maintenance abilities. 

Work Conditions:

• Fast-paced environment 
• Work completed both indoors and outside in all weather conditions at all locations owned by Marshall Farms and its subsidiaries. 
• Duties are performed primarily on 1st shift, 7:00am - 3:30pm, M-F. 
• Varying extended hours, including the possibility of occasional weekend work may be required to meet project timelines, limit disruptions to normal activities, or for emergency situations. 
• Requirement to be part of the Facilities on call rotation schedule and regular after-hours availability if needed for specialized equipment/systems that limit personnel qualified to work on them. 
• May be required to be part of the snow removal team and available to come in early during the week and alternating weekends, through the winter season 
• Out-of-town travel to other facilities may be required for multiple days, which may involve an overnight stay near the local facility. 
• Regular exposure to a variety of physical conditions, such as high noise levels requiring the use of hearing protection, proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, working in high heat and humidity, working at various heights on ladders or other platforms, exposure to various chemicals, dirt, manure, etc. 
• Must be clean shaven or willing to shave at a moment’s notice to properly wear a respirator / N95 mask if needed. 
• Required to adhere to Barrier Affidavit requirements. (Flu Shot Required) 

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to stand, kneel, lay under vehicles/equipment, work with arms above head for long periods of time. 
• Considerable use of arms and legs including climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, and handling of materials. 
• Work may be strenuous at times and include lifting heavy objects, standing, stooping, and kneeling for long periods of time. 
• This position requires manual dexterity and exceptional eye-hand coordination. 
• Ability to work at various heights and in confined spaces. 

Qualified Mechanical Technician - Senior is a grade F6 with an hourly pay range of $25.03 - $37.57.
