Overview
The Staff Accountant is responsible for providing high-quality accounting, bookkeeping, and tax preparation services to a diverse portfolio of clients. This role supports clients by maintaining accurate financial records, preparing financial statements, and assisting with the preparation of individual, business, nonprofit, and fiduciary tax returns. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and committed to delivering exceptional client service while meeting deadlines in a fast-paced public accounting environment.
Primary Responsibilities
- Perform bookkeeping and write-up services using QuickBooks and other accounting software.
- Reconcile bank, credit card, loan, payroll, and balance sheet accounts.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Process adjusting journal entries and maintain general ledgers.
- Prepare payroll tax filings and sales tax returns, as needed.
- Prepare federal and state tax returns for individuals, corporations, partnerships, S corporations, nonprofits, and trusts.
- Gather and organize client tax information and supporting documentation.
- Assist with tax planning and respond to client inquiries.
- Identify accounting and tax issues and communicate them to supervisors.
- Maintain organized electronic workpapers and ensure compliance with firm quality standards.
- Assist with year-end close, audits, reviews, and compilations when assigned.
- Build and maintain positive client relationships through responsive and professional communication.
- Stay current on accounting principles, tax laws, and firm procedures.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required.
- CPA candidate or CPA license preferred.
- 1–3 years of public accounting or bookkeeping experience preferred.
- Experience with business and individual tax preparation
- Experience with QuickBooks Online/Desktop and tax preparation software.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple client engagements and meet deadlines.

Pay: $65,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
