Job SummaryWe are seeking an experienced Excavation Estimator to prepare accurate and competitive cost estimates for earthwork, site development, and underground utility projects. The estimator will analyze project plans and specifications, assess site conditions, and develop detailed estimates for excavation, grading, trenching, utilities, and related civil work. This role is critical in securing profitable projects and supporting successful project execution.Key ResponsibilitiesReview civil drawings, geotechnical reports, and project specificationsPerform detailed quantity take-offs for:Mass excavation and gradingTrenching and backfillUtilities (storm, sanitary, water)Roadwork, pads, and site preparationAnalyze soil conditions, site access, haul routes, and disposal requirementsEstimate costs for labor, equipment, materials, trucking, and subcontractorsSolicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier pricingDevelop bid proposals and participate in pre-bid meetingsIdentify risk factors such as groundwater, rock excavation, and weather impactsWork closely with project managers and field superintendents for constructability inputMaintain historical production rates and cost databasesAssist with change order pricing and value engineeringQualifications5 years of experience estimating excavation, site work, or heavy civil construction projectsStrong understanding of earthwork operations, utility installation, and grading practicesAbility to read and interpret civil plans, profiles, and cross-sectionsProficiency in estimating and takeoff software (e.g., Agtek, Trimble, Bluebeam, PlanSwift)Solid knowledge of equipment production rates and crew sizingStrong math, analytical, and organizational skillsExcellent communication and teamwork abilitiesPreferred QualificationsDegree or certification in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related fieldExperience with DOT, municipal, or commercial site development projectsFamiliarity with GPS machine control and survey dataKnowledge of local soil conditions and disposal facilitiesBenefitsCompetitive salary based on experiencePaid time off and holidaysCareer growth opportunities
