MMA provides global risk management, risk consulting, insurance brokerage, alternative risk financing, and program management services for businesses, public entities, associations, professional services organizations, and private clients (high net worth). Working within MMA’s Employee Health & Benefits Consulting Division, the Captive Manager/Leader role will support and drive strategy to continue to grow our current stop loss captive solutions including and emerging captive solutions across MMA. This individual will help work with key internal partners including the MMA Stop Loss Center of Excellence, MMA Captive Center of Excellence, captive partners in the U.S. and Marsh Cayman and our fronting carrier partners.
The Captive Manager/Leader will help drive new growth in existing captive solutions, educate MMA Client and Production teams on the value of self-funding, alternative risk strategies like captives and support the management of our existing captive while working with key stakeholders on the development of additional captive product/solution opportunities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited, to the following:
General Responsibilities:
Support our existing Captive including working with Board Members, Captive Members, Marsh Cayman and our Fronting Carrier partner including managing and coordinating annual board meeting and overall captive management activities, renewals, surplus return, etc.
Partners with key leaders to develop overall captive strategy and product roadmap.
Supports business development activities focused on identifying, qualifying, and launching programs with new and existing captive program partners.
Manages, supports, and enhances our relationships with selected external Captive service providers and program / solution partners.
Understands and effectively communicates the MMA Captive Stop-Loss and general self-funding value proposition and strategy to current and prospective partners
Ability to develop and communicate new business or renewal rate actions including coordination with Stop Loss Center of Excellence on modeling, educating market on requirements to quote, final determinations/proposal delivery to support new business growth and persistency among current captive members.
Develops and maintains relationships with clients, producers, and sales representatives to support MMA’s production goals and persistency
Makes presentations to peers, producers, and leadership, as necessary
Works with Marketing to identify marketing collateral needed to help support overall needs of the Captive Segment.
Works with internal teams to stay abreast on various cost containment strategies/solutions that may be deployed at captive or captive member level including educating captive members and working through implications to captive risk, administrative rules, and rate actions.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Risk Management, Health Policy, or related field.
Minimum of 5 Years in working in Self-funded Employer Medical Stop-Loss Captive segment with direct experience working with, or in partnership with, Captive Program Managers and Captive Managers, Group Stop Loss Captive pricing, Underwriting methodologies, and Captive financial reporting
Extensive knowledge and risk based underwriting experience of various captive arrangements including the following is preferred:
Standalone and single-parent captives
Group captives
Captive cells
Captive programs
Collateral/funding mechanisms
Reinsurance structures
Strong organizational, time management and analytical skills
Experience managing others including junior team members, product or value proposition subject matter experts and working with a high performing team.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Strong organizational, analytical skills and strong attention to detail.

Proven ability to support multiple projects simultaneously with attention to detail and process.

Demonstrate high emotional intelligence (e.g.) in all matters related to client and internal interactions.
Must be able to effectively interact with people internal and external customers.
Intermediate knowledge of MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook), working knowledge of pivot tables with preferred experience in Power BI and other programs.
Ability to learn and master MMA proprietary tools and resources for client and prospect deployment.

WORK LOCATION
Work is typically performed either on site at MMA’s Conshohocken office, or at various customer/MMA locations as required including annual travel to Grand Cayman in support of the captive board meeting(s).
