Marriott Theatre 2027 TYA and Dinner Theatre Season (1st Half)

AUDITION LOCATION ACKNOWLEDGEMENT: Due to the Equity building being under construction during this particular general call, we will be holding this round of auditions at our warehouse. We acknowledge that this may reduce accessibility to our general auditions but encourage those unable to attend to submit videos for each production's open calls later in the year.

CASTING NOTE: Our goal is to create a warm and welcoming casting process. The team strives to lead with respect, kindness, and generosity. In regard to the character descriptions – they outline the characters as described in the script and in consultation with the creative team. They do not aim to be all-encompassing representations of who might fill these roles. We aim for an expansive and deliberate casting process. We acknowledge that the characters in the script are traditionally presented as either male or female (using he/him or she/her pronouns). We warmly welcome submissions from individuals who identify as gender non-conforming, genderqueer, transgender, or non-binary for the roles that resonate most with their identity.

LEADING PLAYER: (Any Gender, Any Age), The ultimate 'ring-leader.' Masterfully charming and manipulative, the Leading Player is a chameleon of sorts. Guides Pippin through his own story and tries to intervene at the end. excellent dancer. Obsessed with putting on a great show for the audience. Vocal range: Db3-Ab4

PIPPIN: (Male/Masc, 20s ), Longing to find his purpose in life. Naive, innocent, and discontent. Eventually finds love, and meaning in life, with Catherine and Theo. Vocal range: G2-Ab4

CHARLES: (Male/Masc, 50s-60s), Pippin's demanding father. As the King of the Holy Roman Empire, Charlemagne is more comfortable wielding a sword than breaking bread. He wears his years with great pride. Vocal range: G2-E4

LEWIS: (Male/Masc), Charlemagne and Fastrada’s son. Strong and not bright. Pippin’s half-brother and after Pippin, heir to the throne. Addicted to the physical, Lewis loves weightlifting, Lewis loves wrestling, but most of all, Lewis loves Lewis.

FASTRADA: (Female/Femme, 30s-40s), Pippin's conniving stepmother. A seductress, who is no stranger to deceit and betrayal, she is both sexy and smart. Skilled at using her sexual appeal to benefit her and her son. Vocal range: A3-F5

BERTHE: (Female/Femme, 60s), Pippin's saucy grandmother. A brassy broad full of wisdom, grace, and sass. She tries to help Pippin and encourages him to live his life to the fullest. Vocal range: E3-C5

CATHERINE: (Female/Femme, 20s-30s), A widow and mother. She is a beautiful and a hopeless romantic, who possesses graceful elegance. Encounters Pippin at his lowest point and eventually falls in love with him. Vocal Range: F#3-Db5

THEO: (Male/Masc, Child), Catherine's son.

ENSEMBLE: Charlemagne’s Army, Monks, Nobility, Peasants, The Players

SEEKING:

THE D’YSQUITH FAMILY: (Multiple Genders, 30s ), Able to play a wide variety of roles. Doubles as all nine of the D’Ysquith family. All D’Ysquith family heirs are farces of British high society in the early 20th century. Has strong physical comedy skills and accent abilities that help differentiate the multiple characters. Has stamina to carry the different characters throughout the show and make quick costume changes. Vocal range B2-F4

MONTY NAVARRO: (Male/Masc, 20s-30s), Ever the optimist, Monty nevertheless struggles as he seeks to join the D’Ysquith family whilst watching the woman he loves marries another. He perseveres with panache and strong physical comedy skills. Vocal Range: A2-A4

SIBELLA HALLWARD: (Female/Femme, 20s-30s), The girl Monty loves. Sibella has true affection for Monty but more so for social status. Sibella is smart, funny and stylish, and as far as relationships are concerned, she wants to have her cake and eat it too. Vocal Range: Gb3-D5

PHOEBE D’YSQUITH: (Female/Femme, 20s-30s), Monty’s cousin. Phoebe was raised high-class with idealistic fantasies of love. She foils Sibella in her interest in love over status and tries to find the true virtue in people. Though she is smart and earnest, she can also be naive. A true soprano with a legit, possibly operatic sound. Vocal Range: C4-C#6 (sus) [optional Eb6]

MISS SHINGLE: (Female/Femme, 40s-60s) Monty’s unexpected visitor. Mysterious, Miss Shingle has an obvious sense of justice. She comes to tell Monty the secret of his D’Ysquith lineage with a pivotal song in Act 1 that sets up the story of the show. Vocal Range: G3-A5

ENSEMBLE: various ages, genders and vocal ranges. Ensemble actors play a variety of roles including featured characters with solos and lines. Must be able to portray a variety of characters with a variety of accents.

SEEKING:

PERCY JACKSON: (Male/Masc, 15–16), The son of Poseidon and an impulsive but good-hearted teenager who struggles with ADHD, dyslexia, and feeling misunderstood. Percy is unexpectedly thrown into the world of Greek mythology and discovers the hero within himself.

ANNABETH: (Female/Femme, 15–16), The fiercely intelligent daughter of Athena. Strategic, ambitious, and determined to prove herself, Annabeth is a natural leader with a guarded emotional side.

GROVER: (Male/Masc, 15–16), A loyal satyr disguised as Percy’s best friend. Nervous, compassionate, and quirky, Grover is tasked with protecting demigods while longing to prove his own bravery.

LUKE: (Male/Masc, 17–20), The charismatic son of Hermes and senior camper at Camp Half-Blood. Charming and cool-headed, Luke quickly becomes a mentor figure to Percy.

SALLY JACKSON: (Female/Femme, 30s–40s), Percy’s loving and resilient mother. Warm, selfless, and emotionally strong, Sally has spent years protecting Percy from dangers he does not yet understand.

MR. BRUNNER / CHIRON: (Male/Masc, Adult), Percy’s Latin teacher who is secretly the wise centaur Chiron. A patient mentor and protector of young heroes.

CLARISSE: (Female/Femme, 15–17), The aggressive and competitive daughter of Ares. Tough, intimidating, and battle-ready, Clarisse thrives on conflict and competition.

MR. D / DIONYSUS: (Male/Masc, Adult/Ageless), The sarcastic god of wine and reluctant director of Camp Half-Blood. Bitter, funny, and perpetually annoyed by the campers.

GABE UGLIANO: (Male/Masc, 30s–40s), Percy’s crude and unpleasant stepfather. Lazy, selfish, and deeply irritating.

ARES: (Male/Masc, Adult/Ageless), The intimidating god of war, portrayed like a dangerous biker-rock-star. Aggressive, manipulative, and fueled by chaos.

POSEIDON: (Male/Masc, Adult/Ageless), God of the sea and Percy’s distant father. Calm, mysterious, and emotionally restrained, though he deeply cares for Percy.

HADES: (Male/Masc, Adult/Ageless), The ruler of the Underworld, portrayed as an aging rock star. Dramatic, bitter, and misunderstood.

MRS. DODDS: (Female/Femme, Adult/Ageless), A Fury disguised as Percy’s substitute teacher. Menacing, terrifying, and Percy’s first encounter with the monster world.

THE ORACLE: (Female/Femme, Ageless), A mystical prophet in the form of a mummy who delivers cryptic prophecies to heroes.

AUNTY EM / MEDUSA: (Female/Femme, Adult/Ageless), A seemingly warm roadside host who is secretly Medusa. Manipulative, lonely, and dangerous.

THALIA: (Female/Femme, Teenager), The brave daughter of Zeus whose legacy and sacrifice loom large over Camp Half-Blood.

BIANCA: (Female/Femme, Teenager), A mysterious young girl dressed in 1930s clothing encountered during Percy’s journey.

CHARON: (Male/Masc, Adult), The sarcastic ferryman of the Underworld who transports souls across the River Styx.

ENSEMBLE: (All Genders, Various Ages), Campers, gods, monsters, spirits, museum patrons, Underworld creatures, drivers, and mythological beings who help create the imaginative world of Percy’s adventure. Featured ensemble roles may include the Minotaur, Chimera, Cyclops, Bus Driver, Uber Driver, and various campers and spirits.

JOSH PRIMM: (Male/Masc, 10–12), A shy and anxious boy struggling to adjust to life in New York City. His friendship with Lyle helps him gain confidence and a sense of belonging.

LYLE: (Open Gender/Non-Speaking, Ageless/Youthful), A warm-hearted singing crocodile with extraordinary musical talent. Gentle, expressive, and deeply emotional despite never speaking words.

HECTOR P. VALENTI: (Male/Masc, 40s–50s), A flamboyant performer and failed magician desperate for a comeback. Theatrical, eccentric, and deeply caring beneath the showmanship.

KATIE PRIMM: (Female/Femme, 30s–40s), Josh’s mother and a cookbook author searching for creative inspiration and stability for her family.

JOSEPH PRIMM: (Male/Masc, 30s–40s), Josh’s optimistic father and playground designer. Practical, supportive, and excited by the family’s new beginning in New York.

MR. GRUMPS: (Male/Masc, 50s–70s), The Primms’ grumpy and suspicious neighbor. Protective of his beloved cat and resistant to change.

LORETTA THE CAT: (Female/Femme, Adult Cat), Mr. Grumps’ pampered Persian cat, often portrayed through puppetry. Elegant, dramatic, and hilariously temperamental.

EDDIE THE PET SHOP OWNER: (Male/Masc, Adult), The kindhearted owner of an exotic pet shop who introduces Hector to Lyle.

JIMMY SCHUBERTLANDER: (Male/Masc, 40s–60s), A loud and skeptical Broadway producer who reluctantly agrees to produce Hector and Lyle’s act.

FRIDA FRYHOUSE: (Female/Femme, Adult), The enthusiastic real estate representative who welcomes the Primms to New York City.

TRUDY: (Female/Femme, Teenager), One of Josh’s classmates and part of the growing community he begins to connect with.

MAYOR MYRNA GERSHON: (Female/Femme, Adult), The energetic mayor of New York City who becomes swept up in the excitement surrounding Lyle.

SERGEANT SAMSEL: (Male/Masc, Adult), A police sergeant involved in managing the city’s response to the chaos surrounding Lyle.

ENSEMBLE: (All Genders, Various Ages), New Yorkers, movers, schoolchildren, police officers, drama club members, pizza rats, theater performers, crocodiles, and colorful members of the city who bring the bustling world of New York to life.


HANSEL & GRETEL

SEEKING:

HANSEL: (Male/Masc, 10–13), Cautious and thoughtful, but easily influenced by others—especially his bold younger sister. Though hesitant to take risks, Hansel ultimately wants to protect his family and do the right thing.

GRETEL: (Female/Femme, 8–12), Rebellious, mischievous, and endlessly curious. Gretel charges headfirst into adventure without always thinking through the consequences, often pulling Hansel along for the ride.

THE WITCH: (Female/Femme, 30s–60s), The charismatic and dangerous owner of a mysterious digital empire who uses children’s addiction to games to power her underground data center. Able to switch instantly from warm and inviting to manipulative and terrifying.

MOM: (Female/Femme, 30s–40s), A hardworking single mother doing everything she can to create a stable life for her children. Grounded, practical, and deeply loving, she struggles to balance survival with being present for her kids.

MULTI-CHARACTER TRACK: (Open Gender, 10–18 or Adult Playing Young), A quirky and slightly awkward neighborhood kid who becomes an unexpected ally in the story. Also doubles as a variety of digital avatars and Pixel Clippy, a trapped chatbot AI hidden deep within the Witch’s basement network. This track has strong comedic timing and versatility for multiple transformations.

ENSEMBLE: Various ages, genders and vocal ranges. Ensemble actors play a variety of roles.
