Beginning January 1, 2013 and thereafter Marrakech will limit the number of lateral/substitute position applications and moves. When a regular employee is in their six-month introductory period The Human Resources Department will not accept applications to transfer to a new position or to a substitute position. Staff can apply for a concurrent position.
We are looking for staff to provide direct care to persons with developmental and physical disabilities. This person will be responsible for implementing behavior programs and other habilitation programs, and also facilitating and promoting community integration and safety.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
PROFESSIONAL COMPETENCIES
Understanding the nature of human systems: individual, group, organization, community and society, and their major interactions for individuals with developmental disabilities.
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); 3 to 6 months related experience and /or training, or human service training certificate. Experience using basic computer programs.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assures safety and wellbeing of Marrakech individuals while adhering to agency policies and procedures.
- Assists the individuals being served to coordinate their daily routine including food shopping, meal preparation, recreational activities, bills, budgets, and household chores as needed.
- Purchases groceries as well as supervise and assist in the preparation of food for individuals, following special prescribed diets and food consistency orders. Implement eating procedures as written.
- Assists individuals in daily activities, including daily hygiene functions
- Essential employee – assists in scheduling trained staff to fill in shifts for this position during scheduled time off due to the essential function of this position.
- Assists the individual in contacting the day program/work if the individual is home ill.
- Assists individuals in household management tasks including cleaning.
- Implements and documents behavioral programs, teaching strategies, exercise programs and other team recommended programs and procedures.
- Documents communication logs, programs, incident reports, abuse and neglect reports, safety reports, fire drills, time exception reports, mileage logs, Therapp and other required documentation
- Uses the timeclock or Sandata system when arriving/leaving shift
- Lifts and Transfers individuals as required. Repositions individuals as stipulated in service plan.
- (If DDS Medication Certified) Administers prescribed oral and topical medications under written direction of Physician. (Must become medication certified within allotted timeframe)
- Follows the Critical Information for the program
- Uses and maintains adaptive equipment (such as Century Tub, wheelchairs, Hoyer lift) according to safety guidelines.
- Implements Physical/Psychological Management Training, CPR and First Aid as required
- Performs housekeeping tasks
PROFESSIONAL COMPETENCIES

- Skill in identifying and selecting natural opportunities which promote growth and goal attainment for individuals with developmental disabilities.
- Skill in implementing interventions for individuals with developmental disabilities.
- Process skills which are required to implement services for individuals with developmental disabilities.
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); 3 to 6 months related experience and /or training, or human service training certificate. Experience using basic computer programs.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
- Valid Connecticut Driver’s License
- Ability to obtain the following licenses/certifications:
- Department of Developmental Services - Medication Certification
- Public Service License valid for the state of Connecticut (if applicable)
- CPR and First Aid certification, as required by program site.
- PMT certification
- M-Th 2:30p-9:30p, F 2p-10p (36 FT)
- M-F 8a-4p (40 FT)
- Su-Tu e/o Sa 10p-8a (35 FT)
