You will work – note that this is not this is not a shadow position. However, you will be integral to the team as you are learning our system and gaining meaningful clinical experience for your future medical career. 

The office's business hours are M, Tu, W, and F 9-5 or 10-6 and Thursdays 10-6. Must be able to work the entire clinic day. No half shifts. We typically have part time medical assistants either Monday and Thursday vs Wednesday and Thursday.

This position offers meaningful exposure to the full continuum of patient-centered care within a medical practice, including direct patient interaction. Responsibilities include hands-on support in both front desk patient services and in-room patient care, with flexibility across all patient-facing areas required. Initially, the role will focus more heavily on front desk activities, such as making appointments, checking patients in, charging credit cards, triaging phone calls and emails and communicating with the rest of the team, booking patients for surgery, conducting telemedicine consults, and learning the system in our private clinic/office. The role will have progressive responsibility over time to include taking vitals, taking, patient histories, drafting clinical notes, interacting with insurance companies, assisting with minor surgical procedures, and coordinating surgical pre- and post-operative care. 

Must speak Spanish and English - this is mandatory and no exceptions will be made. Please do not apply unless you speak Spanish and English.

Should have 3.0 GPA. Medical experience is preferred. CNA or MA certificate a bonus but not required but will track towards the higher pay rate on the range provided. Candidates without a license or certificate will be at the lower pay rate on the range.  Candidates with prior medical experience will be in the mid range. We have an employee incentive program that rewards those that perform and excel at the highest level. 

Pay is commensurate with medical experience and CNA license/ MA certificate. 

Location: South Miami --- adjacent to University of Miami main campus.

Duties

• Assist with patient intake processes, including recording vital signs and updating medical records using Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems
• Support clinical procedures 
• Prepare examination rooms and ensure all medical supplies are stocked and sterilized for daily use
• Document patient encounters accurately with detailed medical documentation and coding (ICD coding and CPT coding) to ensure proper billing and record keeping
• Manage administrative tasks including appointment scheduling, patient follow-up calls, and maintaining organized medical records
• Support physicians and healthcare providers during outpatient visits, by providing necessary assistance
• Maintain a safe environment by adhering to infection control protocols and assisting with patient safety measures like intake assessments and vital sign monitoring

Experience

• Prior experience in a medical office setting or healthcare environment is highly preferred
• Knowledge of dermatology or plastic surgery is advantageous but not required 
• Basic understanding of pharmacology, anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology to support effective patient care is ideal. 
• Hands-on experience with phlebotomy, medication administration, or inpatient/outpatient clinical procedures is a bonus but not necessary 
• Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) or CPR is a bonus but not necessary
