Position Summary
Marquis is seeking a strategic, results-driven Director of Finance and Accounting to lead the company’s financial strategy and execution. The successful candidate will serve as a trusted advisor to the executive leadership team, ensuring strong alignment between financial strategy, operational performance, and growth initiatives.
Reporting to the Senior Vice President, this professional will bring the ability to operate effectively at both the strategic and operational levels, translating complex financial insights into actionable guidance that supports decision-making across the organization. The ideal candidate is a relationship-driven leader who thrives in dynamic environments and balances strategic vision with hands-on execution.
Marquis is committed to advancing its operations through Digital Transformation and has made significant investments in its accounting (SAGE Intacct), Payroll (Miter), and field connectivity systems. The successful candidate will be a key member of our Digital Transformation Executive and must possess a passion for leveraging technology, specifically these investments, to drive efficiency over dated, manual processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as a strategic partner to the executive leadership team to drive financial performance, optimize outcomes, and support sustainable growth.
- Provide leadership with clear, data-driven analysis of the financial implications of business initiatives and operational decisions.
- Lead the development, evaluation, and execution of short- and long-term financial strategies aligned with corporate objectives.
- Responsible for financial reporting, accounting operations, and cost management to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and regulatory compliance.
- Establish and maintain effective financial oversight, internal controls, and accounting standards in compliance with GAAP and applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
- Accountable for delivering monthly financial close and reporting process both internally and externally. Responsible for defining the closing schedule and activities to deliver accurate bank financial statements by required deadlines and to business operating units to support operational and strategic decision-making.
- Works with company financial institutions to manage the weekly borrow base financing and reporting activities and business activities funding.
- Manage general ledger and expense processes, ensuring alignment with profitability targets and company policies. Accountable for P&L mapping accuracy, Balance Sheet Processes and Cash Forecasting.
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency through leveraging ERP investment and additional automation, innovation, and process optimization.
- Leads department responsible for Financial Account, Payroll, Accounts Payable, Billing, Accounts Receivable. Mentors, and develops high-performing finance teams, with a strong focus on professional growth, engagement, and succession planning.
- Act as the lead for corporate accounting and reporting requirements, proactively identifying, and resolving risks and opportunities. This includes Certified Financial, Insurance/Taxes and Customer Audits.
- Build strong cross-functional relationships and communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
Qualifications
- 10 years of progressively responsible financial leadership experience, including senior level leadership roles.
- Industrial construction experience strongly preferred, including exposure to statutory and GAAP insurance reporting.
- Demonstrated expertise in financial planning, analysis, reporting, accounting, and expense management.
- Experience with Borrowing Base (Revolver) Financing Preferred.
- Proven ability to identify and resolve complex financial and reporting issues with clarity and urgency.
- Strong business acumen with the ability to drive bottom-line results through decisive, informed leadership.
- A collaborative, people-focused leader who builds trust, engages, and develops talent.
- Advanced proficiency in financial systems and tools; experience with Sage Intacct, and advanced Excel capabilities preferred.
- Exceptional communication skills with the ability to influence and engage executive and operational stakeholders.
- Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple and sometimes competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required.
- MBA and/or CPA strongly preferred
- Prior experience in industrial construction is strongly preferred.
