SUMMARY OF POSITION:
The Deposit Services Representative (DSR) will be responsible for opening all deposit account types and providing counsel to all new and existing customers regarding Marquette’s deposit products and related digital services. This position requires a high level of product knowledge and understanding of banking practices, procedures, and standards in accordance with state and federal regulations. In addition, the DSR should be able to assess risk in each transaction, be able to glean financial services needs from the customer and open products and services according to those risks and needs.

Essential Functions:
  • In order to assist the Bank in growing our market share, the employee will consult with new and current customers on services available at Marquette; cross-sell products and services as appropriate to expand account portfolio and generate new business
  • Accurately open accounts with an understanding of the regulatory disclosure for each account; entry into core system and paperwork completion
  • Have experience and knowledge of bank’s electronic/digital products and services to better cross-sell to customers and prospects
  • Responsible for making appropriate referrals to loan officers
  • Trouble-shoot and resolve customer service questions and requests
  • Perform updates and maintenance on existing accounts when necessary
  • Prepare new accounts packages
  • Maintain files and supplies of promotional materials and enrollment forms
  • Perform miscellaneous duties as assigned by the Branch Manager

Marginal Functions:
  • Assist with duties of the tellers as needed
  • Provide back-up support for the head teller as needed

KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY REQUIREMENTS:

Education and/or Experience:
College degree is preferred. Other combinations of education, training and experience will also be considered (Example: High School diploma and 2 years of Teller and/or New Accounts experience with Marquette Savings Bank or 2 years of New Accounts experience with another financial institution).

Broad knowledge of bank’s products and services, certification under Marquette’s Retail Sales training program, and a complete understanding of all appropriate regulatory compliance is required.

Compliance Knowledge:
Ability to demonstrate general knowledge of the Bank Secrecy Act/USA Patriot Act, Privacy laws and regulations, as well as consumer protection deposit laws and regulations; including, but not limited to, Expedited Funds Availability Act, Electronic Funds Transfer Act, and Truth-in-Savings Act.

General knowledge of information security is required. This includes understanding the importance of safekeeping confidential customer information, understanding and acknowledgement of Bank policies in relation to information security, and maintaining safety in the Bank’s network.

Sales Skills:
Ability to present information on bank products and services in a clear, concise and organized manner, relating product features and benefits to customer needs.

Ability to create a comfortable climate for customers to discuss their banking needs and evaluate sales opportunities based on information they provide.

Language Skills:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as instructions and procedure manuals.

Ability to communicate effectively with employees and customers of the bank.

Equipment/Tools Skills:
The employee must have the ability to use standard office equipment.

Computer skills required with proficiency in Microsoft Office products.

Mathematical Skills:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.

Reasoning Ability:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where limited standardization exists.

Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.

Ability to handle both positive and negative communication regarding customers and their accounts, with an ability to demonstrate a high level of decision making.
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit and to use hands to finger, handle, or touch. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, talk and hear.
The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The noise level in the work environment is moderately noisy.

The employee in this position will be required to work in an indoor environment and come in direct contact with staff and customers.
