This Engineer will direct the detail design, testing, and development of electromechanical mechanisms/components and systems as used on commercial and military aviation equipment.Typical Duties and ResponsibilitiesProven ability to apply engineering processes and procedures to manage engineering projects and systems from definition, through development operationsExperience in the role of Subject Matter Expert providing technical expertise throughout a projects lifecycle including design, engineering, configuration, test planning/development, test execution/analysis and sustaining engineeringIdentify and assist in development of new business opportunitiesProvide technical leadership on engineering projects to include mentoring and supervision of less experienced team membersProvide knowledge transfer to other employeesWork with product team members to identify and mitigate development risks and produce development plansDemonstrated design and implementation experience utilizing a wide range of mechanical fabrication techniques and process, including Metal/Plastic Molding, Welding, Material Forming, Machining and Casting for variety of materialsDemonstrated design and implementation experience utilizing a wide range of mechanical fabrication techniques and process, including Metal/Plastic Molding, Welding, Material Forming, Machining and Casting for variety of materialsIntegrate new technology, techniques and concepts to enhance functionality, simplify designs, improve reliability and reduce production costsInterface directly with the customer to establish requirements and performance criteriaPlan and schedule own work or the work of others to meet assignment requirements within schedule and budgetary requirementsReports to the VP of EngineeringRequirementsBachelor’s Degree in Engineering is required, Master’s Degree preferredA minimum of 7 years experience with mechanical devices, electromechanical mechanisms, hydraulic and pneumatic systems used on commercial and military aviation equipment; preferably more than 10 years experience in mechanical design and development.Must possess analytical skills, critical thinking, a passion for attention to details and excellent communication skills.Ability to present ideas with impact and make compelling presentations.Flexible and adaptive; able to explore many ideas simultaneously. Demonstrated design and implementation experience utilizing a wide range of mechanical fabrication techniques and processes, including metal/plastic molding, welding, material forming, machining and casting for a variety of metals.Basic engineering analytical skills in the areas of machine design, dynamics of mechanical systems, and fluid mechanics. Understanding of detail drawing standards and geometric tolerancing.
