Position Summary

Marolf is seeking a skilled Telemetry Installation Technician to join our field operations team. In this role, you will be responsible for the installation, configuration, and ongoing maintenance of telemetry and control systems at customer sites. You will serve as Marolf’s on-site representative during equipment commissioning events, including start-ups, walk-throughs, and pre-start inspections, ensuring every installation meets our quality standards and client expectations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, and commission Telemetry Control Units (TCUs), Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), Tower Antennas, Level Transducers, and Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs).
  • Represent Marolf during all site commissioning activities, including start-ups, walk-throughs, pre-starts, and full installation events.
  • Perform routine maintenance, diagnostics, and troubleshooting of installed telemetry and control equipment.
  • Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and client personnel to ensure installations are completed on schedule and to specification.
  • Document installation activities, configurations, and as-built information accurately and completely.
  • Adhere to all applicable safety regulations, company policies, and site-specific requirements at all times.
  • Communicate equipment status, site conditions, and any anomalies to supervision in a timely manner.
  • Maintain company vehicles, tools, and equipment in good working order.

Equipment and Systems

  • Telemetry Control Units (TCUs) - Installation, Configuration, Field Commissioning
  • Programable Logic Controllers (PLCs) - Programming, Wiring, Start-Up Support
  • Tower Antennas - Mounting, Alignment, RF Troubleshooting
  • Level Transducers - Installation, Calibration, Signal Verification
  • Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) - Parameter setup, Commissioning, Diagnosis

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Valid Driver’s License with acceptable driving record.
  • Minimum 1 year of hands-on experience with TCUs, PLCs, Tower Antennas, Level Transducers, and/or VFDs.
  • Demonstrated ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.
  • Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently in the field with minimal supervision.
  • Effective communication skills for interacting with clients and internal teams.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2 or more years of experience with telemetry/control system installation and commissioning.
  • Utility industry experience (water, wastewater, oil & gas, or similar).
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.
  • Experience with SCADA systems or remote monitoring platforms.
  • Familiarity with 4–20mA loop wiring, RS-485/Modbus, or similar industrial communication protocols.

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions

This position requires regular work in outdoor and industrial environments. Candidates must be able to:

  • Lift and carry up to 50 lbs unassisted.
  • Climb ladders and work at heights.
  • Work in confined spaces, extreme temperatures, and inclement weather.
  • Travel to job sites frequently; overnight travel may be required.
  • Stand, kneel, and work in physically demanding positions for extended periods.
