The Safety & Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for all facility maintenance and safety functions, ensuring a safe, efficient, and compliant manufacturing environment. This hands-on role manages preventive maintenance programs, performs equipment and facility repairs, and oversees safety compliance with OSHA and company standards. Key Responsibilities
Safety Management & Compliance
- Develop, implement, and maintain safety programs, policies, and procedures in compliance with OSHA and company standards.
- Conduct regular safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments across all departments.
- Lead safety training initiatives, including hazard communication, lockout/tagout, and emergency response.
- Investigate safety incidents, document findings, and implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Maintain accurate safety records, reports, and compliance documentation.
- Partner with leadership to drive a proactive safety culture emphasizing employee engagement and continuous improvement.
- Perform hands-on troubleshooting, repair, and preventive maintenance of production equipment, including mechanical presses, dies, and tooling.
- Conduct press setup checks and ensure dies are maintained, lubricated, and stored properly to prevent damage and ensure repeatable performance.
- Develop and manage preventive maintenance schedules to minimize downtime and improve equipment reliability.
- Coordinate maintenance priorities with Production and Engineering to support daily operational needs.
- Maintain spare parts inventory and ensure critical equipment readiness.
- Support equipment installation, upgrades, and process improvement projects.
- Utilize lean manufacturing principles such as 5S, standard work, and visual management to improve efficiency and workplace organization.
- Identify opportunities to reduce downtime, energy consumption, and maintenance costs.
- Participate in safety and facility improvement projects that enhance productivity and overall plant performance.
- Promote a culture of accountability, organization, and continuous improvement in both safety and maintenance processes.
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in Industrial Maintenance, Engineering, Safety Management, or related field (preferred).
- 3–7 years of hands-on experience in industrial maintenance and/or safety in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA, and other regulatory safety requirements.
- Skilled in troubleshooting and repairing mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
- Demonstrated experience with press maintenance, die care, and tooling management.
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles (5S, standard work).
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and equipment manuals.
- Primarily shop-floor based with routine office work for planning and documentation.
- Must be able to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 50 lbs. as part of daily activities.
- Exposure to typical manufacturing environment conditions including noise, dust, and temperature variation.
