MARLIN Engineering, Inc. is seeking an energetic and passionate Urban Planner to join our team in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. If you enjoy the ability to manage and support planning projects for some of the premier Cities in South Florida as well as Counties, M/TPOs, and the Florida Department of Transportation, this is the place for you. The role will involve working with multi-disciplinary teams through the data collection, planning, conceptual design, and implementation phases of projects. We have seasoned Planners that will work with you to broaden your career and, at MARLIN, you will have the opportunity to work closely with our design team who are co-located in the Fort Lauderdale office. Working with other members of our team, you'll also assist with delivering projects and building positive client relationships. Candidates should be self-motivated, detail-oriented, quality driven, and team-focused.
Responsibilities:
- Assist or lead planning level tasks including internal team coordination, client-ready deliverables production, and external stakeholder outreach.
- Lead, conduct, and/or support production of public-facing planning documents including technical memoranda, long-range transportation plans, multimodal corridor studies, and transportation policies.
- Lead, conduct, and/or support data analysis using Excel, Tableau, and/or GIS based analysis tools for safety, pedestrian, bicycle, transit and other corridor and area-wide planning projects.
- Research, compile and organize project data to support project analyses.
- Sources of data may include stakeholder interviews, public data resources (e.g., land use and census data, crash data, transit ridership data, pedestrian/bicycle level of comfort data), and plan and policy reviews.
- Prepare for and participate in community events, stakeholder meetings, and interagency coordination meetings, including preparation of presentations and other materials.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Urban Planning, Transportation Engineering, or closely related field
- MS Office, ArcGIS or QGIS
- Technical writing skills (please include primary author writing sample in application)
- 1-2 years of progressive multimodal transportation planning experience
- An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our team
- AICP or on track to obtain AICP
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in transportation planning or related field strongly preferred
- 3-5 years of progressive multimodal transportation planning experience
- Graphic skills such as Illustrator, Sketch-up, Street-mix, or InDesign preferred
- Public involvement and outreach experience preferred
