Children's Jewish Enrichment Teacher

The MMJCCM imagines Jewish life that is diverse and engages meaningfully with its values, culture, and ideas in everyday lives.

The MMJCCM is looking for a Children's Jewish Enrichment Teacher for our Havurah program. Havurah is an experiential Jewish learning program for children in Pre-K through third grade. The program fosters a joyful and engaging environment where students explore Jewish holidays, stories, traditions, values, and culture while developing a strong sense of identity and community. Through hands-on, project-based learning, teachers facilitate creative experiences that bring Judaism to life, incorporating activities such as cooking, art, music, and storytelling. Havurah educators play a key role in guiding collaborative exploration and nurturing each child's curiosity and connection to Jewish life. Each semester culminates in a meaningful family experience, where students share and celebrate their learning with the broader community.

We currently offer two classes in the program: one for Pre-K students from our Nursery School and the other for Kindergarten through third grade.

All applicants must be available 1:00pm-5:00pm on Friday afternoons from September to June to be considered for this position.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and facilitate engaging, developmentally appropriate curriculum rooted in experiential Jewish learning and values-based education.
• Bring Jewish holidays, Torah stories, and core values to life through hands-on activities, creative projects, and expressive learning.
• Foster a warm, inclusive classroom environment that builds community, encourages curiosity, and supports each child's social and emotional development.
• Guide students in exploring Jewish identity, traditions, and culture in joyful, meaningful ways.
• Plan and implement lessons that integrate creative disciplines such as cooking, art, and theater to enrich learning experiences.
• Maintain effective classroom management while nurturing positive relationships and a sense of belonging.
• Communicate regularly with families about classroom experiences and student growth, and build strong, collaborative relationships with children, parents, and colleagues within the JCC community.
  
  

Requirements

• 2 years minimum of leading Jewish enrichment programming in a community-based setting, day school, or Hebrew school with a preferred background in elementary education or Jewish education.
• Experience working with young children and a strong understanding of childhood development
• Passion for Jewish learning, culture, traditions, and storytelling
• Knowledge of Jewish values, holidays, and Torah stories
• Experience designing engaging, developmentally appropriate curriculum
• Strong written communication skills
• Ability to share classroom experiences with families
• Ability to collaborate within a creative, interdisciplinary team environment

Compensation

This position offers an hourly compensation of $70.00-$80.00.
