What are the responsibilities and job description for the Litigation Attorney position at Markus Williams LLC?
Markus Williams LLC is seeking an experienced litigation attorney to join our growing practice in our Denver office. We are a boutique law firm with a strong focus on complex commercial litigation and insolvency matters, offering meaningful responsibility, high-level work, a collaborative environment, and a compensation structure that rewards performance.
POSITION OVERVIEW
The ideal candidate will have a strong commercial litigation background, the ability to manage matters independently, and a desire to contribute to a collaborative team. Bankruptcy or insolvency experience is preferred.
RESPONSIBILITIES
· Handle all aspects of commercial litigation matters from inception through resolution
· Draft pleadings, motions, and briefs
· Conduct discovery, including depositions and written discovery
· Appear in court and participate in hearings and trial
· Work directly with clients on strategy and case management
QUALIFICATIONS
• Active Colorado bar license, or admission in another jurisdiction with eligibility to become licensed in Colorado. Wyoming bar license is a plus.
• 5 years of commercial litigation experience, with a track record of managing complex matters
• Strong research, writing, and oral advocacy skills
• Ability to work independently while thriving in a team-oriented environment
• Experience in bankruptcy, creditors’ rights, or insolvency matters is preferred
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
• Competitive base salary commensurate with experience - $145,000 - $165,000 plus incentive and bonus structure
• Annual billable hour expectation of 1,400 hours
• Performance-based bonus structure for hours billed in excess of the annual expectation
• Additional benefits including health, dental, and vision benefits, 401(k) plan participation, and payment of bar dues and continuing legal education fees
