Marks Auto Service of Rockford is a third-generation, family-owned automotive repair business that has served the local community since 1949. As a small independent, multi-location facility, the company offers four convenient shops that provide a high level of technical expertise. The team has extensive experience working on both foreign and domestic cars and trucks, focusing on cost-effective repair and maintenance solutions. Many technicians are ASE Master Certified and are committed to ongoing education and investment in advanced automotive technology, creating a professional environment for continuous learning and growth.

Role Description This full-time, on-site Automotive Technician role is based at Marks Auto Service in Belvidere, Loves Park, Rockford, or Roscoe IL.

A typical day would include:

• routine vehicle maintenance
• conducting inspections/ diagnosing issues
• completing repairs on a wide range of foreign and domestic vehicles.
• documenting services performed, creating estimates on recommendations, and communicating findings with the service team/ customer (as needed)
• use diagnostic tools and follow established procedures to ensure safe, reliable, and cost-effective service for customers.
• collaboration with other technicians and adherence to company safety and quality standards are essential.

Preferred Experience:

• Strong skills in Vehicle Maintenance and Maintenance & Repair for cars and light trucks.
• Proficiency in performing Oil Changes and related routine service tasks.
• Hands-on experience with Automotive Repair, including diagnostics and mechanical troubleshooting.
• Ability to inspect, diagnose, and repair Suspension components and related systems.
• ASE certification or progress toward certification is highly preferred.
• Familiarity with modern diagnostic equipment and service information systems.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• Ability to lift and move automotive parts and equipment and to work safely in a shop environment.
• Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and a commitment to high-quality workmanship.
• Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented setting.
