Data Scientist Level 4

Description

Markon is seeking a Data Scientist to support the Fort Meade Customer by  designing and implementing advanced AI/ML and data science solutions across multiple mission domains . The position requires architecting Agentic AI systems and customized Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) solutions, while also optimizing machine learning models for resource-constrained edge environments. This role requires deep technical judgment to select, evaluate, and implement the most effective AI/ML approaches for mission-specific performance and scalability needs.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and implement sophisticated AI/ML and data science solutions supporting mission requirements across multiple domains.
• Architect and deploy Agentic AI systems, including customized RAG pipelines tailored to operational use cases.
• Evaluate, select, and implement machine learning models optimized for specific mission objectives and performance constraints.
• Generate, train, evaluate, and optimize ML models for deployment in low-memory, low-resource edge device environments.
• Apply advanced techniques to improve model efficiency, accuracy, and inference performance under constrained conditions.
• Assess emerging AI technologies and recommend best-fit solutions aligned with mission needs.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate AI capabilities into existing systems and workflows.
• Provide technical leadership and guidance on AI/ML architecture, implementation, and optimization.

Qualifications

Required

• TS/SCI with Active Polygraph with this Customer.
• Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline plus 15 years of relevant experience.
• Demonstrated experience as a senior-level AI/ML expert delivering complex AI solutions in operational environments.
• Proven experience designing and implementing Agentic AI and Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) systems.
• Deep understanding of machine learning architectures, model selection, training, and optimization techniques.
• Hands-on experience developing and deploying ML models in resource-constrained edge environments.
• Strong background in AI/ML performance optimization, including model compression, quantization, or similar techniques.
• Ability to evaluate AI solutions and apply sound technical judgment to meet mission and performance requirements.
• Strong communication skills to explain complex AI concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Salary Range

USD $220,000.00 - USD $235,000.00 /Yr.The Markon pay range for this position is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
