What are the responsibilities and job description for the Trading and Operations Associate position at Markin Asset Management?
We are a quantitative fund management firm run by a small, passionate, dynamic team of industry professionals with a great story to tell. The ideal candidate for our Trading and Operations Associate will be proactive and detail-oriented with experience in investment management.
The role offers the opportunity to work closely with our leadership in a rapidly growing firm and support daily trading activity, managed-account administration, and client operations across our strategies. This individual will work closely with both internal portfolio managers and external advisor clients to ensure smooth trading, accurate data management, and exceptional client service as the firm continues to scale. As you will be part of our team, this role requires availability during US Eastern Time business hours. Compensation is competitive.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support daily trading activity and order entry across multiple custodians (Schwab, Fidelity, Pershing, etc.)
- Coordinate directly with advisor clients on account openings, trade execution, and operational questions
- Manage account setup, maintenance, and documentation for new and existing SMA and fund clients
- Maintain and update internal databases — including account status, model weights, platform data, and client records
- Oversee managed-account composites, performance tracking, and platform reporting requirements
- Collaborate with portfolio managers on model updates, allocations, and client communication
- Liaise with custodians, administrators, and platform partners on trade files, data integrations, and reporting
- Support compliance, audit, and data-integrity initiatives across systems and partners
Qualifications:
- 3–7 years of experience in trading operations, SMA administration, or client-service roles within an RIA, hedge fund, or platform environment
- Experience working directly with advisor or institutional clients preferred
- Familiarity with custodian and trading systems (Schwab, Fidelity, Pershing, Enfusion, or similar)
- Strong Excel and database management skills
- Understanding of managed-account composites, performance reporting, and trade workflows
- Excellent communication skills and professional presence with clients and partners
- Self-starter mindset with strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities
- CFA candidate preferred
