Who We Are
Markham is looking for a junior or senior student with a passion for people, culture, and the events industry to join our People & Culture team this semester! This is a hands-on opportunity to gain real-world People and Culture experience across recruiting, onboarding, performance management, and employee engagement — all within a fast-paced creative events environment.
You’ll collaborate directly with the VP of People & Culture to support programs that help grow, develop, and connect our incredible team members.
Position Overview
The Intern supports Markham’s People & Culture team in advancing our employee experience, recruiting, and professional development efforts. This role is ideal for a junior or senior in college who is pursuing a degree in Human Resources, Business, Communications, or a related field, and who is excited to learn how People and Culture functions within a creative, fast-paced events environment.
The intern will gain hands-on exposure to the full employee lifecycle — from recruitment and onboarding to engagement and performance management — while helping strengthen Markham’s workplace culture and internal communications.
Requirements
Key Responsibilities
Support recruiting and onboarding efforts, including posting positions, scheduling interviews, and communicating with candidates.
Assist in planning and coordinating training and development programs.
Help design and implement employee engagement initiatives and recognition programs.
Provide project and administrative support for performance management cycles.
Contribute creative ideas to enhance employee communications, internal events, and team culture.Maintain confidentiality and uphold professionalism in all HR-related work.
Gain exposure to HR technology systems, including HRIS and ATS platforms, supporting data accuracy and process improvement.
Who You Are
Junior or senior standing in a bachelor’s degree program (Human Resources, Business, Communications, or related field preferred).
Interest in the events or production industry and how People and Culture supports dynamic project-based teams.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, attention to detail, and ability to multitask.
A creative and outgoing personality with a passion for people and collaboration.
Proficiency in Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Slides) or similar tools.
