Position Overview

The Omnichannel Rotational Intern is an entry-level, on-site 6-month internship based in MPG’s Bentonville office, designed to give a college student or recent graduate hands-on exposure to how a Walmart and Sam’s Club omnichannel broker operates. Over the course of the program, the intern rotates through and supports four interconnected disciplines: Sales, Replenishment & Supply Chain, InsightsLab (analytics), and Digital Commerce, building a well-rounded foundation across the business.

This is a learning-focused, execution-oriented role. The intern will provide practical, day-to-day support to the teams they rotate through, coordinating client and retailer meetings, managing product samples and meeting logistics, and assisting with digital reporting, presentation development, and item setup, while developing the analytical, organizational, and communication skills needed to step into a full-time entry-level role at MPG. The Digital Commerce rotation focuses on the organic digital shelf and item operations on Walmart.com and Sam’sClub.com; it does not include Walmart Connect or retail media.

Key Responsibilities

Sales & Client Support

  • Assist Sales Directors with the coordination of client and retailer meetings, including scheduling, calendar holds, agendas, and gathering materials.
  • Set up meeting rooms for on-site client meetings—ensuring rooms, AV/technology, printed materials, and refreshments are ready ahead of time.
  • Manage MPG Layout Center sample drop-offs and shipments back to clients, including tracking, labeling, packing, and coordinating carriers/logistics.
  • Help prepare, format, and proofread meeting materials, customer scorecards, and presentation decks for accuracy and clear storytelling.
  • Maintain trackers, meeting notes, and follow-up action items, keeping status updates current for the sales team.

Replenishment & Supply Chain

  • Help pull and organize POS, inventory, in-stock %, and weeks-of-supply data from tools such as Scintilla, Madrid, and Supplier One.
  • Track modular transitions, seasonal builds, and item changes by monitoring timelines and execution milestones.
  • Learn how forecasting, replenishment, and supply chain decisions impact product availability, sales, and the customer experience.
  • Support the team in identifying basic out-of-stock or availability issues and routing them to the right lead.

InsightsLab (Analytics & Storytelling)

  • Build recurring dashboards and reports that highlight trends, risks, and opportunities for the team.
  • Support the creation of client-ready presentations by organizing insights into clear, concise narratives, leveraging syndicated data sources MPG subscribes to (NIQ, Numerator, Stackline, Mintel, etc.).
  • Learn how to translate data into simple “so what” recommendations that inform merchandising and supply chain decisions.
  • Observe and support client and retailer meetings to see how insights are presented and used with buyers.

Digital Commerce

  • Focused on the organic digital shelf and item operations; does not include Walmart Connect or retail media.
  • Support digital reporting by pulling and organizing digital-shelf KPIs such as content health, availability, conversion, and buy box ownership.
  • Assist with item setup and content updates on Walmart.com and Sam’sClub.com, helping ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Help audit product detail pages (titles, bullets, images, and enhanced content) and flag issues to the appropriate lead.
  • Support online item launches and digital assortment changes tied to in-store modular updates.

Office, Event & Cross-Functional Support

  • Provide general office and event support for on-site client visits, share groups, and team meetings, including supplies, catering coordination, and materials.
  • Run local errands as needed, such as sample drop-offs at Walmart/Sam’s Club offices.
  • Keep shared files, sample libraries, and team resources organized and up to date.
  • Take ownership of assigned tasks, meet deadlines, and proactively communicate questions, progress, and issues to the team.
  • Build professional relationships with internal stakeholders across all four rotation areas.

Development & Support

    • Rotational Structure: Rotational exposure across Sales, Replenishment, InsightsLab, and Digital, with a functional mentor in each area.
    • Training: Introduction to Walmart systems (Retail Link, Item 360, Luminate) and core Excel and PowerPoint skills.
    • On-the-Job Coaching: Regular collaboration with cross-functional team members plus a mentor for career coaching and visibility.
    • Progressive Responsibility: Gradual expansion from execution support toward co-owning reporting and small analyses as skills develop.
Qualifications

Required

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Supply Chain, Analytics, Economics, or a related field.
  • Strong interest in retail, CPG, e-commerce, or omnichannel commerce.
  • Foundational Excel and PowerPoint skills, with a willingness to build more advanced capabilities.
  • High attention to detail, strong organization, and reliable follow-through.
  • Professional communication skills and a service-oriented, can-do attitude.
  • Able to work on site in Bentonville and comfortable with the light physical aspects of the role (packing, moving, and shipping product samples).

Preferred

  • Prior internship or academic experience in retail, CPG, analytics, supply chain, or sales.
  • Exposure to data visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau) or SQL.
  • Familiarity with the Walmart/Sam’s Club ecosystem or Bentonville retail community.
  • Valid driver’s license for local sample drop-offs and errands.

Core Competencies

  • Growth Orientation: Actively seeks feedback and learning opportunities and is eager to understand how the business works.
  • Execution & Attention to Detail: Delivers accurate work on time and manages multiple priorities reliably.
  • Communication: Clearly shares questions, progress, and next steps with the team.
  • Ownership & Reliability: Takes accountability for assigned tasks and follows through.
  • Collaboration & Adaptability: Works well across teams and adjusts easily as priorities and rotations shift.

This internship is designed as an entry point into MPG’s Bentonville organization. Successful interns build the foundation to move into full-time entry-level roles such as Junior Sales Associate or Omni Sales Associate, with continued growth across Omnichannel Sales, Replenishment & Sales Analytics, Digital Commerce, or InsightsLab.
