About the Role:
Cactus Taqueria is looking for a friendly, reliable Cashier & Line Prep to join our team at our Cactus Taqueria. As a first point of contact for many of our guests, you will play a key role in creating a welcoming, efficient, and positive customer experience. Your responsibilities will include taking orders accurately, handling payments, answering menu questions, assisting on the line, and keeping the front counter clean and organized.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Cashier & Customer Service
- Greet customers warmly and take dine-in or take-out orders accurately
- Operate the POS system to process cash, credit, and digital payments
- Answer customer questions about menu items, ingredients, services provided and specials
- Communicate clearly with kitchen about order details or modifications
- Keep the cahier area, beverage station, and dining area clean and stocked
- Assist with restocking napkins, utensils, condiments, and other front of house supplies
2. Line Prep
- Assist with prepping/finishing all food items on the line (burritos, tortas, tacos, etc.)
- Pack takeout orders neatly and accurately
- Follow food safety and cleanliness guidelines
- Handle customer concerns or complaints professionally
- Support other areas
Skills & Qualifications:
- Previous cashier or customer service experience preferred, but not required
- Proven cooking/line prep experience
- Accuracy and speed in executing assigned tasks
- Attentive to detail
- Friendly attitude and strong communication skills
- Highly organized
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced kitchen environment
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to stand for extended periods of time, 7 hours
- Handling/using knifes
- Ability to lift, carry, push, pull between 30-40 lbs
- Comfortable working in a kitchen environment
Certifications:
- Food Handler Card
- CA Harassment Prevention Training
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $17.50 - $18.50 per hour
