Position Summary

Markdom is seeking a detail-oriented Quality Systems Specialist to support and maintain our Quality Management System (QMS) in accordance with IATF 16949, ISO 9001, customer-specific requirements, and applicable automotive quality standards.

This position will play a key role in ensuring that quality system processes are documented, implemented, maintained, and audit-ready. The Quality Systems Specialist will work cross-functionally with Quality, Manufacturing, Engineering, Maintenance, Supply Chain, Human Resources, and leadership to support compliance and continuous improvement throughout the organization.

The ideal candidate has hands-on experience working within an IATF 16949-certified automotive manufacturing environment and understands that maintaining certification requires more than preparing for an annual audit—it requires disciplined systems, documentation, follow-up, and continuous improvement throughout the year.

Key Responsibilities

Quality Management System

• Maintain and continuously improve Markdom's Quality Management System in accordance with IATF 16949 and ISO 9001 requirements.
• Maintain quality manuals, procedures, work instructions, forms, records, and other controlled documentation.
• Coordinate document creation, revision, approval, distribution, and retention.
• Ensure obsolete documents are properly controlled and removed from use.
• Monitor QMS processes to ensure required activities and records are completed and maintained.
• Assist process owners with understanding and meeting applicable QMS requirements.
• Support implementation and monitoring of customer-specific requirements (CSRs).

Internal & External Audits

• Coordinate and participate in internal system, process, and layered audits.
• Maintain the internal audit schedule and ensure audits are completed as required.
• Support preparation for IATF 16949, ISO 9001, customer, and registrar audits.
• Coordinate responses to audit findings and nonconformances.
• Track corrective actions through implementation and effectiveness verification.
• Maintain organized audit documentation and objective evidence to ensure ongoing audit readiness.

Corrective Action & Continuous Improvement

• Support corrective and preventive action activities related to internal, customer, and certification audit findings.
• Facilitate or support structured problem-solving using tools such as 5 Why, Fishbone, 8D, and root-cause analysis.
• Track open corrective actions and follow up with responsible departments to ensure timely closure.
• Verify corrective actions are effective and appropriately documented.
• Identify recurring quality system issues and opportunities for process improvement.

Automotive Quality Requirements

• Support compliance with automotive quality tools and processes, including:
• • APQP
  • PPAP
  • FMEA
  • Control Plans
  • MSA
  • SPC
  • 8D Problem Solving
• Assist with ensuring PFMEAs, Control Plans, work instructions, and related manufacturing documentation remain aligned.
• Support customer quality system requirements and customer portal documentation as required.

Quality Metrics & Management Review

• Maintain and report quality system KPIs and compliance metrics.
• Assist with preparation and coordination of Management Review meetings.
• Compile data related to customer complaints, audit findings, corrective actions, process performance, scrap, quality objectives, and other required QMS metrics.
• Track action items resulting from Management Review and other quality system activities.

Training & Compliance

• Assist with QMS and quality procedure training for employees.
• Maintain required training and competency documentation in coordination with department leaders and Human Resources.
• Promote awareness of IATF, ISO, customer, and internal quality requirements throughout the organization.
• Help build a culture in which quality system compliance is integrated into daily operations.

Qualifications

• 3 years of experience in Quality Systems, Quality Assurance, or a related quality function within manufacturing preferred.
• Experience working in an IATF 16949 and/or ISO 9001 certified manufacturing environment.
• Automotive or Tier 1 automotive supplier experience strongly preferred.
• Working knowledge of IATF 16949, ISO 9001, internal auditing, corrective action, and document control.
• Familiarity with automotive Core Tools including APQP, PPAP, FMEA, MSA, and SPC.
• Internal Auditor training or certification preferred.
