Marks Auto Service of Rockford is a third-generation, family-owned automotive repair business that has served the local community since 1949. As a small independent, multi-location facility, we offer four convenient shops that provide a high level of technical expertise. The team has extensive experience working on both foreign and domestic cars and trucks, focusing on cost-effective repair and maintenance solutions. Many technicians are ASE Master Certified and as a team- we are committed to ongoing education and investment in advanced automotive technology, creating a professional environment for continuous learning and growth.

Role Description This full-time, on-site, fast paced Automotive Technician role is based at Marks Auto Service in Belvidere, Loves Park, Rockford, or Roscoe IL.

A typical day would include:

• routine vehicle maintenance
• conducting inspections/ diagnosing issues
• completing repairs on a wide range of foreign and domestic vehicles.
• documenting services performed, creating estimates on recommendations, and communicating findings with the service team/ customer (as needed)
• use diagnostic tools and follow established procedures to ensure safe, reliable, and cost-effective service for customers.
• collaboration with other technicians and adherence to company safety and quality standards are essential.

Preferred Experience:

• Strong skills in Vehicle Maintenance and Maintenance & Repair for cars and light trucks.
• Proficiency in performing Oil Changes and related routine service tasks.
• Hands-on experience with Automotive Repair, including diagnostics and mechanical troubleshooting.
• Ability to inspect, diagnose, and repair Suspension components and related systems.
• ASE certification or progress toward certification is highly preferred.
• Familiarity with modern diagnostic equipment and service information systems.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• Ability to lift and move automotive parts and equipment and to work safely in a shop environment.
• Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and a commitment to high-quality workmanship.
• Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented setting.
• Speed and Accuracy are key! We do the job right the first time, in a time efficient manner!

- Phone Screening: We look to learn more about you, answer initial questions, and determine if makes sense to move forward with the next steps. Phone interviews help us identify if we invite you for an in-person interview, keep your info on file for a future opening, or end the recruitment.

-In-Person Meeting: We will invite you in at the earliest convenience. Plan for business-casual or appropriate work attire. Typically interviews are held at our Corporate location (2429 S Alpine Rd, Rockford IL) regardless of the specific job/ location you seeking employment. (this does not reflect which location has the openings. Interviews typically last 30 minutes but may go up to 90 minutes to provide a shop tour and give a better persecutive of the role.

-For immediate openings: IF we believe you are a strong fit, we call references, conduct a background check, and have you complete a skills assessment. Depending on the position- a second interview may also be requested to meet other members of the team.
