Who we are
Mark Phillips Piano Studio is a piano and voice studio in Indianapolis serving over 100 students. We offer Piano Express, our own small-group piano program for kids ages 6-12, along with private piano and voice lessons. Everything happens at our studio at 6801 Lake Plaza Dr, Suite A101A. We're looking for a part-time piano teacher who is good with kids, reliable, and wants to teach without running their own business.
Why teach at MPPS
- $40 per hour: All group and private lessons are paid at $40 per hour, with ongoing opportunities to earn more as you continue working with us.
- Paid training: You'll observe and co-teach before leading your own classes.
- Students provided: We handle marketing, enrollment, scheduling, and billing.
- All training and curriculum provided: You'll get the lesson plans, guides, and materials you need to teach every level well.
Who we're looking for
- Music degree, or currently working toward one.
- Intermediate to Advanced piano proficiency.
- Experience teaching or working with kids ages 6 .
- Comfortable leading a small group.
- Reliable weekday, afternoon, and evening availability.
- Warm, patient, and organized.
Bonus skills
- Background in music education/pedagogy.
- Group teaching experience (classroom, camp, choir).
- The ability to sing.
- Strong customer service/communication.
What you'll be doing
- Teach group classes to kids and adults.
- Teach private piano lessons.
- Record attendance and lesson notes after each class.
- Give parents a brief update at pickup.
- Attend periodic teacher check-ins with the owner.
- Help with and attend studio events such as recitals.
- Participate in bi-weekly staff meetings and ongoing training.
Schedule & commitment
- Two days per week to start
- Minimum of 3 hours per day, as we work to grow your full schedule as quickly as we can. Peak Teaching Times: Monday - Thursday, 4pm - 7:30pm
- Start date: As soon as possible, after paid training.
- Light but responsive communication: Check Slack & email daily.
- Periodic Studio Events: We host 4-5 piano recitals per year. You will receive 1 month notice.
- Minimum 1-year commitmentGrowth opportunities over time.
