Sterile Compounding Pharmacy Technician (Part-Time, Growth to Full-Time)
Location: Chicago, IL
Pay: $25 – $30 per hour (based on experience)
About Us:
We are a patient-focused compounding pharmacy specializing in customized sterile medications. We are looking for a Sterile Compounding Pharmacy Technician with experience preparing compounded sterile preparations (CSPs) in compliance with USP <797> and USP <800> standards. This position will begin part-time, with plans to expand into a full-time role as the department grows.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare sterile compounded medications in a cleanroom environment following USP <797> and <800> requirements
- Perform accurate aseptic technique within ISO Class 5 PECs
- Complete and maintain batch records, compounding logs, and beyond-use dating documentation
- Manage cleanroom cleaning and environmental monitoring tasks per scheduled SOPs
- Assist with inventory management of sterile supplies, syringes, vials, drug ingredients, labels, and PPE
- Perform sterile gowning and garbing procedures correctly and consistently
- Support pharmacists with sterile compounding workflows and quality assurance checks
- Maintain a safe, compliant, and highly organized work environment
Requirements:
- Active Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) license required
- Minimum 1–2 years of sterile compounding experience in hospital or compounding pharmacy (required)
- Familiarity with USP <797> and USP <800> cleanroom standards
- Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy
- Ability to stand for extended periods, work in PPE, and perform aseptic technique
- Dependable, organized, and team-oriented
Schedule & Compensation:
- Part-Time to Start: Schedule discussed during interview
- Growth to Full-Time as sterile compounding volume increases
- Pay: $25 – $30 per hour, based on sterile compounding experience
