The Alterations Specialist plays a key role in bringing our luxury garments to life for each client, ensuring every piece fits flawlessly, feels effortless, and reflects the level of service our brand is known for. This role partners closely with our stylists and operations team to deliver a seamless, elevated client experience from fitting through final presentation.
What You'll Do:
Client Experience & Fittings
- Work directly with clients to assess fit and provide thoughtful, precise alterations
- Conduct fittings with a strong understanding of garment structure and client preference
- Ensure every piece reflects a polished, tailored finish aligned with the Marissa Collections standard
Alterations & Garment Construction
- Perform a full range of alterations including hemming, tailoring, repairs, and adjustments
- Modify garments to enhance fit, proportion, and overall presentation
- Construct or customize pieces based on client needs when applicable
Collaboration & Communication
- Partner with stylists and store leadership to support client appointments and fittings
- Communicate clearly on alteration timelines, expectations, and garment needs
- Maintain detailed records of client measurements and requested alterations
Operational Excellence
- Ensure all sewing equipment and tools are maintained and in proper working condition
- Label, track, and manage garments through the alterations process with accuracy and care
- Press and finish garments to ensure they are client-ready
Who You Are:
- Experienced in garment alterations, tailoring, and construction
- Detail-oriented with a strong eye for fit, proportion, and finish
- Client-focused with a warm, professional, and service-driven approach
- Able to manage multiple garments and timelines in a fast-paced environment
- Strong communicator who collaborates well with both clients and internal teams
Qualifications:
- 1–3 years of alterations, tailoring, or seamstress experience required
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Basic computer proficiency (email, Microsoft Office; inventory systems a plus)
- Ability to perform basic measurements and calculations
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand, move, and work with garments throughout the day
- Frequent use of hands for sewing, pinning, and pressing
- Ability to lift and move garments or equipment as needed
