Position Summary:
The PRN Support Specialist provides flexible, as-needed coverage across all agency programs, including Administration, Teresa’s Place, and Shelter. This position ensures continuity of services, minimum staffing compliance, and consistent client support during staff absences or high-demand periods. The PRN Support Specialist must be prepared to perform reception, crisis response, direct client services, case management support, supervised visitation monitoring, shelter support, and general administrative tasks as assigned. This role requires a trauma-informed, client-centered approach, strong professional boundaries, adaptability, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced and sensitive environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide flexible, as-needed shift coverage across Administration, Teresa’s Place, and Shelter to maintain minimum staffing and ensure continuity of client care
- Learn and competently perform the responsibilities of each program location, including reception and direct client services
- Complete client intakes and exits, screen potential clients for services, and provide appropriate referrals when criteria are not met
- Answer and respond to crisis line calls, return phone calls, and provide accurate information and support
- Provide case management support, including arranging transportation, coordinating appointments, supporting problem-solving, and assisting clients in identifying coping skills and natural supports
- Supervise visitations and safe exchanges independently when assigned.
- Support daily shelter operations and complete assigned tasks during shifts.
- Assist with court accompaniment when assigned
- Complete all required documentation in a timely and accurate manner, including client records, shift logs, observation notes, and inventory tracking
- Maintain agency guidelines, safety protocols, confidentiality laws, and company policies at all times
- Demonstrate a trauma-informed approach that fosters a calm, safe, and respectful environment for clients and staff
- Help maintain cleanliness and organization of assigned work areas
- Maintain required Domestic Violence training (minimum 15 hours annually)
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED and 1-2 years experience working in domestic violence, crisis services, shelter settings, or related social services field; or Associate’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, or a closely related field
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience supervising children
- Experience working with victims of domestic violence
- Experience providing case management services
- Experience working within multidisciplinary teams
- Knowledge of community resources
- Spanish language proficiency
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
- May work in an administrative office, shelter, or supervised visitation setting.
- May encounter clients experiencing crisis, trauma, or emotional distress.
- The schedule is variable and based on agency needs.
- Standing, sitting, walking, and driving for prolonged periods
- Occasionally lifting and carrying items up to 50 pounds
- Working under stress in emergency situations
- Normal range of hearing and vision to document electronically and communicate effectively
- Occasional driving in adverse weather conditions
- Frequent use of hands and fingers to operate computer equipment

Pay: $17.50 - $17.90 per hour
