Marion General Hospital (MGH) is an award-winning, not-for-profit hospital providing high-quality medical services to rural Grant County and the surrounding area in northcentral Indiana.  With a qualified professional hospital and auxiliary staff of more than 1,220, MGH is teamed with more than 90 physicians from multiple specialties to meet the needs of the community.  The President/CEO, Stephanie Hilton-Siebert, was recently named one of Becker’s “60 Rural Hospital CEOs to Know” in 2020.  
 

POSITION SUMMARY:
Responsible for seeking out new business opportunities for the organization.  Develop, coordinate, and implement plans designed to increase existing business and capture new opportunities.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 
•    Maintain a good working relationship with new and current community contacts.
•    Work with other MGH and Physician Practice leaders on new initiatives and projects in support of strategic plan.  May lead new projects or hand off to other Directors.
•    Communicate new services and develop delivery models to prospective clients.
•    Coordinate with marketing department for development of marketing literature plan.
•    Oversee the formation of business partnerships and assist with negotiation of contracts.
•    Identify arising business opportunities and build long-term relationships with prospects.
•    Maintain a working knowledge of federal and state regulations and reimbursement policies of Managed Care, Medicare, and Medicaid.
•    Analyze the services used by residents of the Hospital's service area and where they are currently receiving care.  Model conversion of contracts for new health plans.
•    Conduct industry analysis annually and local market analysis quarterly. 
•    Complete the business development tool (sales plan) and KPIs weekly.
•    Collaborate with organization to develop and deliver a detailed public relation plan to include identifying media contacts, social media postings, and event management that will display the organization to their local community.

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:
•    Bachelor’s degree in Business, Healthcare Administration, Marketing or a Clinical field.  
•    Minimum of  5 years of relevant experience.
•    Proven success in relationship development and training/mentoring of team members.
•    Knowledge of policies, governmental regulations, and business practices in healthcare.
•    Highly developed computer skills to include proficiency with Microsoft Office and the ability to learn and proficiently perform computer applications related to department operations and job functions.
•    Strong skills that are vital to include communication, negotiations, marketing, data analysis and project management

PREFERRED JOB REQUIREMENTS
•    Master’s degree in Business, Healthcare Administration, Marketing, or Clinical field preferred.
•    Minimum of five (5) years of supervisory experience preferred.
•    Background in marketing strongly preferred.
•    Healthcare background highly preferred.
•    Experience with Managed Care Companies or other payors highly preferred.
•    Grant writing or oversight experience helpful

•    Excellent communication and public speaking skills for use inside the hospital and out in the community.  Effectively and tactfully communicate with patients and their families and guests, co-workers, managers, Hospital Administrators, providers, consultants, business associates and regulatory agencies presenting a professional image as a representative of Marion General Hospital. 
•    Interpersonal skills necessary in order to carry out duties in a professional manner, as well as the ability to work well under stress. 
•    Excellent time management and organizational skills.
•    Ability to problem solve, multi-task in a fast-paced setting and work well in a team environment. 
•    Ability to negotiate effective working relationships and develop positive resolutions to conflict.
•    Excellent customer service and management skills.  
•    Strong organizational, financial, leadership and administrative skills to manage multiple issues simultaneously combined with ability to effectively prioritize. 
•    Ability to effectively perform job functions under periods of extreme stress, meeting deadlines and producing positive outcomes. 
•    High degree of accuracy with concentration and close attention to detail. 
•    Commitment of 24-hour accountability.
•    Solve real-world challenges with modern theories of leadership, management and negotiation.
•    Apply contemporary business principles integral to a medical organization.
•    Use creative problem-solving skills to make critical decisions.
•    Integrate marketing, operations, personnel and financial initiatives.
•    Ability to be discreet and protect the integrity of any confidential matter or information encountered during the performance of job duties.
•    Hands-on project management skills.

WORKING CONDITIONS
•    Typical office environment with prolonged sitting and occasional standing and walking.  
•    Work may be subject to interruptions and occasional high stress levels.  
•    Works with highly confidential information which may be proprietary or protected health information.  
•    Ability to work hours significantly beyond the normal work week.  
•    May attend special functions and meetings at various locations within the hospital and community.  
•    Occasional overnight stays.

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL ACTIVITIES, TOOLS, EQUIPMENT
•    Uses computer and standard office equipment.  
•    Lifting, pushing, pulling, walking, sitting, reaching, bending, kneeling or stooping to perform duties in a safe manner.
