What are the responsibilities and job description for the North Marion Lead Teacher Early Head Start position at Marion County Head Start?
Responsible for implementation of service areas as outlined in the Program Policies and Procedures; Primary Caregiver for one half of children enrolled.
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood, Infant/Toddler, Child Development and Family Studies, Early Childhood Special Education, or an Early Education Field from an accredited college/university. (Special Requirement: Obtain CDA credential for Infant and Toddler Caregivers or an equivalent within one year if deemed necessary by program.)
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employees occasionally required to stand, walk, sit, use hands, drive an automobile, talk, and hear. The employee must be able to occasionally lift, carry, or assist children weighing up to 50 pounds.
Licenses/Training/Certifications
Obtain CDA credential for Infant and Toddler Caregivers or equivalent coursework within one year if deemed necessary by program.
Job Requirements/Skills/Responsibilities
Work hours as assigned by Children Services Supervisor; occasional evening/weekend hours and overnight travel as required. Valid driver's license; vehicle with adequate insurance coverage for on-the-job use; safe driving record; State and Federal Bureau of Investigation Criminal History Check; Sex Offender Registry Check; Protective Services Record Check; initial Health Assessment and required updates; TB Risk Assessment or TB screening by Mantoux method; CPR/FA Card; food handler’s card; Complete application for Career Pathway Registry (WVSTARS).
Experience with infants/toddlers; understanding of and ability to relate to teenage parents, as well as infants and toddlers; written communication skills; accurate record keeping and reporting skills.
General skills necessary to perform your job functions: mathematical, spelling, grammar, organizational, communication skills, record keeping, and computer skills. Project a positive image of the Head Start/Early Head Start Program; function well within varying socio-economic groups; establishes a good rapport with clients and all staff; is flexible in adjusting plans to changes and emergencies; keep supervisor and appropriate staff informed of workload and developments; submit reports as required; attend, facilitate, and participate in meetings, trainings, and conferences relating to job function; maintain professional and ethical behavior at all times; adhere to all safety, conduct rules/regulations, policies, local, state, and federal mandates; complies with all HS Performance Standards and Head Start Act; adhere to NCWVCAA Employee Guidelines; demonstrate the ability to cooperate, work and communicate with co-workers, supervisors, subordinates, and/or outside contacts.
